2010 NHL Entry Draft: The Sixth Man Edition | June 25-26, 2010 | 7:00 ET (VS, TSN)

I'm keeping the 6th overall thread open if you guys want to keep debating that, but here's the "official" entry draft thread. Don't think I stepped on anyone's toes by making this, but if I did I apologize.

While the last two drafts have been exciting as far as getting Stamkos and Hedman, there wasn't much suspense. This year's draft is completely different and this could go in a lot of directions as has been discussed over the last two months(and probably longer amongst the scouts). This will be Yzerman's first chance to put his stamp on the franchise and give us a look at what direction he's taking the team in. Here are the picks as of right now:

1 6 Brett Connolly, RW, Prince George(WHL)
3 63 Brock Beukeboom, D, Sault Ste Marie(OHL)
3 66 Radko Gudas, D, Everett(WHL)
3 72 Adam Janosik, D, Gatineau(QMJHL)
4 96 Geoffrey Schemitsch, D, Owen Sound(OHL)
4 118 James Mullin, C/RW, Shat. St. Marys(Minnesota)
6 156 Brendan O'Donnell, C, Winnipeg South(MJHL)
7 186 Taigan Zahn, D, Saskatoon(WHL)

As far as draft previews for the team:
BP....Boltprospects profiles 11 prospects the Lightning could take at 6, this is Johansen's but it also links to the others.
The Times
Tribune

Best place for info on the picks is Boltprospects.com. They do a great job over there posting scouting reports within minutes of the players being selected. If you don't know about the site already...well I'm not sure where you've been. I'm pretty sure they'll have a chat going if you want to get their opinions as well as other Lightning fans who follow the draft pretty closely. Looking forward to a great couple of days as we get some new faces in the organization.

Personally I am hoping we pick up a D man, Fowler or Gormley. But I trust Steve will do what needs to be done to get this team back to the post season in the next few seasons. Tonight will be interesting for sure to see what he does or perhaps more importantly does not do.

I want Gormley the most out of the options. After that I really have no idea of what order I'd put the players in. Two guys that worry me are Fowler who isn't physical and Connolly because of his injuries....but those two probably have the highest potential along with Campbell. There really isn't a lot separating the options there will be at 6.

I'm hoping for Gormley or maybe Nino if Gormley is gone. I'll also be happy if we trade the 6th for 2 later picks in the first round...

The TBL twitter feed just posted this link:

All kinds of different peoples twitter feeds following everything going on at the draft. Pretty cool.

Seguin second as expected too. BTW, he was compared to Stamkos by the announcers, don't quite think Seguin is as good but we'll see...

so the oilers are looking for another top pick. They don't have any other first round picks, but they do have 2 2nd rounders- #31 and #48. Probably unlikely to deal with us but could be interesting because they do have a lot of nice young prospects

Now what do the panthers do...

Panthers with 3 first round picks, if that trade with Vancouver goes through! Curse you Dale Tallon!

But they're looking to go younger on the NHL squad. Do you really think they give up young prospects to get even younger, father from NHL ready prospects?

WTF? Grabner to Florida. Now two of my favorite players are in the SE and not with Tampa.
