Me exactly. Hate it for the "safe-ness" of it which is so typicla for us but it's a great pick at this spot and could wind up being really great. If he turns out to have the huge offensive upside that nobody knew about but was glimpsed late.... HUGE. If not, another solid Pred player that we wish gave us more scoring.

Good pick. I'm happy with it. The kid has size and isn't afraid to use it. I'm happy

I wanted Etem before Watson as well, but Watson was most likely going to be a higher pick if he never got hurt. 9 goals and 11 assists in 10 games is pretty good. He didnt even get PP time to, and he is a great pker. A very very solid pick.

Bennett went before Etem.

I guess Etem's defensive play scared teams off?

You guys got the steal of the draft IMO. Watson is one of my favorite junior players of all time and I can honestly say this kid is gonna be something in the NHL. Had he'd been on any team besides Windsor for 1.5yrs of junior he would have went a lot higher. Really didn't get the playing time he deserved. He will be a fan favorite for sure. Gives 110% every shift and leaves it all on the ice. I could definately seem him as a future captain/leader. Enjoy Nashville, this kid's a gem.

I would have thought the team wanted to trade down to pick up more picks in this draft, but judging by Poile's grin, they must have had Watson rated really high.

Supposedly this draft has some good players coming up in the second and third rounds.. you'd have to think that Poile does something to get one of those picks back.

Grebeshkov and maybe Ellis' rights somewhere for picks? Wishful thinking I know, but...

Wow, Coyle gone now too. All my second round picks are going in the 1st.

Are there any other Austins available in the draft? I was thinking there was some huge guy that was a potential 3rd/4th rounder.

Austin Levi, defenseman, Plymouth Whalers. 6'3", 192 lbs., born in Columbus.

Man, this draft had a pantload of twists and turns. I think we got a really solid pick in Watson, but man Fowler falling that low was insane.

Played with Seguin for the Whalers. Drafted in the 6th round of the OHL Priority Selection, he played mostly with the Compuware Midget Majors as a 16yo. He squeezed into 12 games including some playoff experience in that first year. Last year he played 68 games and was in the top 10 in the league for PIMs (116), I think. I watched most of the Whalers & Spitfire games last year. Levi made amazing progress from his first year. Played absolutely solid shut-down d during the playoffs. Has offensive ability, but not in a system that showcased it last year. Will be interesting to see if it is displayed next season. Even if it isn't, he's excellent in the corners, in front of his net, taking away lanes & killing penalties. NCS rank dropped from like 116 midseason to 156 final - I still can't figure that one out as the scouting buzz picked up considerably toward the end of the year. I think he has better upside than Merrill, maybe even Forbort. I was thinking he'd go in the late 3rd-4th, but with all the unpredictability of yesterday and other buzz going around, wouldn't surprise me if he went somewhere in the 2nd today.

I'm looking for Poile to dip into the 2011 draft to acquire a 2nd round pick today (probably from Florida) and select at least one goalie, 1-2 defensemen, and 1-2 forwards today...

Need a goalie to reset the depth chart after signing all of our goalie prospects this summer. Look for a project tender to be put on a 5 year plan...

Also, need a preferably physical, two-way defenseman to bolster the depth charts after the departure of Hamhuis and the subsequent bump for everyone else...

I'd look for at least one European forward to be selected and hope Poile goes for scoring prospects now that he acquired probably the best two-way guy in the draft with his first pick...

The Oilers will like Pitlick. Big, nasty, natural center that they can keep an eye on in the WHL.

Knight is a big reach from Boston. He was probably a third round pick.

Toffoli could fall into the mid-40s... maybe we could trade up and snag him?

Dallas takes Nemeth. Big guy with good wheels. Has some work to do, but he could be very, very good.

Ducks take Smith-Pelley; Smith-Pelley immediately gains five pounds.

I know it sucks for the fans, but it's a classy move not to announce the name of the prospect traded. It allows them to get a call from the team, rather than just hear it from Jim Gregory...

There goes Toffoli to LA. He'll be a good fit there.
