That they (1 of Zetterberg/Datsyuk) are their teams second line center. You dismissed Ribeiro simply because he has an 8 million dollar player playing ahead of him.

I dismissed him because he plays behind a better player? Um, no. I dismissed him because he is Ribeiro, a $5 million a year player who is lousy on face-offs, dives, is small and someone wants to give up one of the Leafs best players for him.

Kadri, Bozak, Grabovski all small centers.

Bleh, I give up trying to discuss trade rumors here. There was about 3-4 threads worth of topics in that last mass amalgamation. During the season, sure, put em all together. But to stick every rumor around the draft and FA period in the same thread just kills discussion.

More space for Kovalchuk threads I suppose.

If something major comes up feel free to have a thread on it, but to have threads on every rumour that arises over the next week would mean endless threads on the same topic. Trust me if Leafs sign Kovie it warrants its own thread.

So do individual deals get their own thread (by other teams?) or will they once again get squashed into that massive confirmed with link thread.....

Usually what we do is let the new thread stand, monitor traffic and when it becomes stale merge it into the stickied thread. For example if a major tade involving players from two other teams transpire, feel free to start a new thread. Based on its importance or traffic it may or may not be merged.

I know this is not black and white but we are just trying to preclude multiple threads on the same topic and make it easy for posters to follow the most current posting.

You claimed he was a 5 million dollar 2nd liner. That's a technicality in the same way Malkin is a 8+ million second line guy. Both play top 3 minutes for their team, but both play behind better centers. That's what I responded to, and it was pretty clear you're skewing his role on Dallas to make a point.

Crosby - Malkin
Richards - Ribeiro

Is this the discussion point?

Skewing might be taking place here but I'm not sure I'm the one skewing anything.

Is there a point in responding when you missed the point so badly?

Obviously, we are not getting anywhere.

I don't believe your claim, and you don't believe mine.

Fine.

Potential picks in play: 4, 8, 15... Florida says lots of interest in 15th overall, but no deal yet.

According to sources....

* The Volchenkov sweeps have officially passed the Penguins threshold. (Don't completely rule Ottawa out. I know what has been said...) Also the Canadiens could move a "significant player" to make room.

*The Penguins are once again talking to Gonchar...however, they are also in on Kaberle and may be leaking Gonchar stuff so that the Leafs know they can do without. There is a ton of that kind of stuff happening tonight. The Pens are also looking into some mid-range d-men... defensive shot blockers..

* The Blue Jackets, Canadiens, Wild and Flames are in on the Stephen Weiss sweeps. (adding him to the Chart Update in the early morning) He has been a hot commodity today.

* Brent Burns is the top name the Montreal Canadiens are after. It's funny, 48 hours ago I thought there was no way in the world Burns would be moved. Now I am hearing his name connected to Montreal and Florida.

Many Stars fans still feel that Ribeiro is a better center than Richards, myself included. It's a healthy debate. A ton of Richards' production comes from playing the point on the PP. Just throwing it out there since people seem to be taking it as a given that Ribeiro is #2 to Richards' #1.

I really like 8 here. A lot. If we wouldn't have to give up too much, which I'm sure we would. You'd have to figure we could get one of Nino, Johansen or Connolly here.

I wouldn't be surprised if this pick was traded. Dudley does not like the 8 spot at all.

I hope not. The other two deals I wouldn't mind though.

Leafs expected to meet with Kulemin's agent this wknd. If 3 mil is Kulemin's target, he's not getting it. $2- 2.5 seems more likely.
