The NHL draft is the only place where you can say, "He didn't go to college, he went to Canada" and have it be a positive thing.

This. I think this was a bit of a stretch. CBJ should go with BPA here.

They probably need good d-men, even though they took the big guy last year in Hedman.

Do yourself a favour and don't post this on the main board. Can of worms - opened.

Yeah, I think it's a decent deal for both sides, though I know nothing of the prospect Vancouver also landed.

Ballard's a tougher defenseman than anyone on the roster except for Bieksa (who may be moved, as the rumour mill speculates) and O'Brien (who shouldn't see NHL ice). Ballard's a player they need, for sure.

Don't get me wrong, I love Canada, I'd move there in a heartbeat, I just also love terrible one-liners.

Holmgren has not been at the draft table for some time now. I think something is cooking. He was talking with Dean Lombardi for a while.

tpanotch

CAL and FLY have no picks in rounds 1-2 so this would be able a player??

I think Gudbranson makes more sense for FLA than Fowler at this point.
That's potentially a very good thing. VERY. Of course they could be just be comparing notes on Stevens baking.

MSE, he's a very bright young man - scholastic player of the year for the OHL. Just a great kid, from a few people who know him.

I don't know a lot about Ballard...don't watch a lot of Florida.

I know my biggest knock on the Nucks through the post season was that they had no #1 defenseman to matchup against the likes of Toews and Kane. Any thoughts as to how Ballard addresses this if at all?

TSN did a documentary on the Oilers last night and their scouts were drooling over some mystery prospect they thought would be the steal of the draft. It is believed Johansen was who they were talking about. So maybe he wasn't that big of a reach as it seems.

She's a big hockey fan. And it's filler waiting for the Isles.
