Very jealous right now...
Boychuck, Sutter, Skinner, Bowman, just to name a few.
Looks like a dandy.
Congrats.

Skinner, Boychuk, Staal, Sutter, McBain, Ward = we get some amazing players from draft in last few year. No doubt this gonna be our new core.

I have a question actually. I know it's depends on training camp but how ready for NHL is Skinner? It's gonna be nice to see him in the men league next season but i don't want to rush the kid.

Anybody unhappy with this pick needs to seriously re-evaluate their priorities. Season ticket holder of the Kitchener Rangers here, and you guys have one helluva player at #7. This guy is the best pure goal scorer in the draft and wears his heart on his sleeve.

Always gives his best effort and is definite captain material. Great skating and very unique with his style (trained as a figure skater), his shot is lethal. VERY good centreman.

Probably a few years away from the big show with his size, but once he grows into his own, there will be MANY D-man getting headaches with this guy's shiftiness and determination.

A steal at 7.

Good to hear. Is he projected to grow physically?

STH for Kitchener also and I don't disagree with the above.
His skating is very unique, maybe Skinner doesn't have top end speed but in close he is so slick on his edges and makes moves that i still can't understand.
Oh yeah....his shot and his BIG COMPETE FACTOR!

You guys got one heck of a player!!

The moves at 1:40 of that video, no skater in the draft except Hall could have pulled out. Wicked handles.

The thing that is most impressive about this kid is how many of his goals are pucks he gets massive elevation on in tight. That takes guts and a real talent for shooting. This kid doesn't slide the puck into the net after a good move, he roofs it. Damn near European looking on those finishes.

and honestly after watching so many of our players, including Staal, not ever roof a dang puck, always shoot it into the goalie, that is nice to see, and hope it will translate to the NHL....

I was surprised that he went that hight, it just shows how high some teams were on him. As a Kitchener fan I can't wait for the OHL season to start.

I think I'm going to have to pony up and get a Skinner jersey.

If this kid's sticking around juniors for another season, I might have to make a trip to see him while going up for a Canes/Maple Leafs game.

Just a heads up - if you are thinking of heading to Kitchener to see a game, you may want to order your tickets early. Depending on when in the season and who the opponent is, it can range from iffy to impossible to get tickets - especially because Kitchener is expected to contend for the league title this year.

How is his shootout prowess.. That is one thing this organization is in DESPERATE need of... There are a lot of points for a team that is usually around the 8 spot that can be won or lost in shootouts now... None of the young kids we have, even though talented, look like guys that are consistently there in shootouts... It'd be nice to have someone in the pipe line to handle the #2 spot in all our shootouts when Jussi is gone

This'll likely make you happy. This kid seems to have naturally great hands and creativity.

Bowman for sure has a bit of the sniper in him and should be good in the shoot outs. Boychuk's moves should also put him in that category...I'm just sayin'...

Wow......quick, quick hands. Good slap-shot for a guy his size too. His skating looked better than some are making it out to be.

While I was under-enthused when we first made this pick, the more I see and hear about him, the more I like it.

What a difference from last year, when the more I saw and read about Paradis, the more head-scratching that pick became.

Go to game videos.

3/12/2010 KIT 5 vs. OS 4

Skinner scores his 50th goal and game winner with 11 seconds left. This was also his second goal of the game. Just shows you how much determination and skill this kid has.

Watch that and you will see.

Interesting fact about Skinner's goal scoring from Sportsnet...

Out of his 50 goals, 25 were first goals, insurance goals or game winners.

I like how quickly the puck is off his stick. He doesn't screw around with it, that's for sure. It would seem to be more "iffy" if he was a puck-possession scorer, in the sense that it's more difficult to gain time/space/angle in the NHL, therefore it would seem to be a style that is less susceptible to being adversely affected by NHL opponents. But what do I know...
