Like I said, fine, if the Rangers want Mcilrath, then fine, but they are IDIOTS for not trading down to get him. With the quality of player that was still on the boards, they could have easily gotten him in another 4-10 picks.

Maybe this is bizzaro world. We take what should be a second rounder (McIlrath) in the first round, and get a first rounder (Tarasenko, Kuzentov, etc.) in the second round?

Maybe I've drank too much.

I like the idea of having a big mean sonofa***** on our blue line even if he is one dimensional - but I DO NOT like burning our best pick in years to do it.

I don't care if it's something we lack, I don't care if the kid plays in the NHL. Unless there is some miracle I don't know about, you DO NOT take this kid with the 10th pick in a draft like this. Period, end of sentence. Mark my words, even if he makes it, we will regret players we passed up here.

While I agree, it's not a sure thing teams were willing to pay the price to move up. It's gonna be their 1st and 2nd to move up.

I suppose Dale Purinton Part II is preferable to Brian Leetch Part II.

I vote Edge for NY Rangers GM.

We need a coup to overthrow this current brain trust.

I agree, Inferno. I don't mind getting McIlRath at all. The way I see it, if you pick Fowler, is he a better player going into camp this year than Sanguinetti? Because if he's not, and I some how doubt he is, or we wouldn't have been discussing him at #10, then why do you pick him at all? Is he going to outplay DelZotto and Sanguinetti to earn a spot this year? I doubt it. I think McIlrath brings one thing this organization completely lacks. Hopefully he gets the rest of his game to NHL level fast. I totally think we should have traded down, but reality is, maybe nobody was offering much. There has to be someone on the other end of the phone to complete the deal. We should give the kid a chance. Everyone's gonna ***** about this pick until the first time he whoops the hell out of Carcillo or Hartnell or whoever we hate at that time. Everyone *****ed about Girardi being a coward for not sticking up for Gaborik. Well, now we have a guy who takes that role personally.
