The pick was traded to Pittsburgh in exchange of their 7th round last year (we picked Petteri Simila) so my guess is Pit had traded this pick to ANA

Exactly, recent trends show that they invite a few and usually are able to sign a few kids from the Q as free agents.

There are a few ways to stock the prospect pool. One is the draft, but they also get guys through FA signings and occassionally through trades too that they have scouted.

Nikita Zaytsev is still available, I believe.

May have 2nd round talent.

The Vesterholm bros are also interesting prospects.

Probably not, but it was intriguing having a 6'6 goalie.

He wasn't too impressive in the OHL with Niagara, but he hasn't really played too much. I think he'll go the same direction as Missiaen

Not much interesting left in the seventh round in my opinion.

At this point, I'd take a flyer on one of these players:

Brandon Alderson
Josh Shalla
Brandon Hynes
Sergei Barbashev
Christian Isackson
Marek Hrivik

I was actually hoping Alex Friesen would fall to our seventh pick. Solid pickup by Vancouver in the late rounds.

Would he have been picked before that 6th is what I'm wondering.

Kids are huge today, averaging only about 6 picks per
round under 6 ft (< 20%).

Let's not waste a pick on him.....but let's invite him at our dev. camp...how's that? I feel the same way for Brunelle.

I'd pick Gauthier though, if not I sure as hell wish they invite Gauthier at the dev. camp.

stepped out for a bit, but I saw who we got in the 5th round. Gallegher has some impressive stats. is size the only knock on him?

I'm hoping we draft German Marcel Noebels. 6'2 and had 19 points in 5 games at the u18 tournament. Worth taking a flyer on.

I like Gauthier a lot myself, I'm surprised he fell this far but seems to be the theme of the draft

We could end the same way we started, with huge Luke Curadi from Penticton in the BCHL. A big US born defender who reportedly had some nibbles from the Habs in the last draft.

Moffatt to Colorado. 2 consecutive great 7th rounders.
