Who do you want for each pick at the draft?

I don't know if this has been done before in this gang but I'm inspired by a similar thread in the Prospects section called something like 'Your dream draft'.

In any case, I'm not a whole lot aware of every prospect available in this year's draft (except maybe the top 20 or 30 - especially the top 10 anyway) but what the heck. I can throw some mud at the wall or, better yet, shoot in the dark as well as any other person.

So, my hopefuls for this year's Canadiens draft are:

27 - Kirill Kabanov (LW) or Jack Campbell (G)
57 - Ivan Telegin (C) or Greg McKegg (C)
117 - Danny Biega (D)
147 - Michael Bournival (C) or Pathrik Vesterholm (C/LW)
207 (?) - Ponthus Vesterholm (RW) (brothers... what the heck, why not?)

There you go... now your turn.

I'm not as familiar with the prospects as we get deeper into the draft, but are you trying to address our needs with lower round picks or are you just picking the best talent available?

Campbell isn't needed with Price and Halak already in the NHL, and Desjardins in the AHL.

There are rumours that Florida may trade their 3rd overall to a team wanting to move up to get Campbell at #3 because they are afraid he will be gone before the top 10 is done.

1st Round 27th Overall: LW Ludvig Rensfeldt (Sweden)

2nd Round 57th Overall: D Troy Rutkowski (WHL)

4th Round 117th Overall: RW Yasin Cisse (USHL)

5th Round 147th Overall: RW Danick Gauthier (QMJHL)

7th Round 207th Overall: ?

These picks could all still be available and for the final pick I'd have no idea who could still be available but would probably go for a talented euro and hope that he pans out.

If the Habs got Jeff Skinner in the 2nd round (#57 overall), I would want Gauthier and Timmins tarred and feathered for not taking him in the 1st round (#27 overall). After his incredible playoff, Skinner will be going in the Top 12 for sure. Every team in the NHL could use a pure scorer with his grit and ability to find the seams.

Also, fyi, we don't own a 3rd round pick.

Hmm, wasn't aware he climbed that high. Wasn't he ranked 50 something?

Realistically, I'm hoping for something like this....

1st: Justin Qualls (D)
2nd: Greg McKegg (C)
4th: Johan Gustavsson (G)
5th: Bohumil Jank (D)
7th: Mikael Salmivirta (C)

I'd like to see us get McIlrath or Tinordi with our 1st but I think they'll both be gone and Qualls seems like a Timmins type of pick (safe with good upside). McKegg has terrific offensive creativity, nose for the net, is strong and is great on faceoffs and special teams. I just don't know if McKegg's average at best footspeed might scare Timmins off.

I also wouldn't be surprised if we acquire a middle round pick for SK74.

He was. At Mid season. End of season he jumped to top15 and now hes in top10 according to alot of scouts. Why? http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/p...php?pid=116085

20 Goals 20 games. 33 Pts 20 Playoff games.

Imo... Brock Nellson would be a good first rounder.

RLR has him at #7, McKeen's at #12, and ISS at #9. He scored a total of 70 G's this season (50 in RS and 20 in PO's). I love the kid and wish we could get our hands on him. His drive really impressed me in OHL playoffs. I think he's a grittier version of Jordan Eberle.

Do want. 5'10/182 is pretty solid for an 18-year-old.

Both...

The best talent with a bit of a focus on centers and defense.

Where?

I looked for one but didn't find one that dealt with the specific focus that this thread looks at.

Yeah Skinner will be long gone when it's our time to pick... no point discussing him.

Anyway here are my picks;

Round 1, 27th: LW Ludvig Rensfeldt
Round 2, 57th: D Brock Beukeboom
Round 4, 117th: C Michael Chaput (i really want this guy!)
Round 5, 147th: C Erik Thorell
Round 7, 207th: D Niklas Clusen

1st Round: C John Mcfarland (OHL)

2nd Round: RW Yasin Cisse (USHL)

4th Round: LW Connor Brickley (USHL)

5th Round: C T.J. Tynan (USHL)

7th Round: LW Nikita Dvurechensky (KHL)

Cisse, Brickley and Tynan are with Des Moines in the USHL but its not a reason why i want the three fowards.
