This Thursday the 17th.....Who's gonna be there? My son and I are driving to St. Paul from Madison for our first Avalanche game in 2 years. I know there are Avs fans everywhere.
Just tell your son the team wearing green is the Avs and he will enjoy the game much more all kidding aside I cant wait till im able to do something like this when my boy is old enough to enjoy a live game.
Im calling a win in this one, Avs play just like they played against Pittsburgh in the 1st, but they play like that for 40 Mins against Minny, and they build up a 4-0 lead after two, and then even though they still implode in the 3rd, they hang on and win 5-3 on an empty netter!!!!!
Goals for the Avs: Duchene, Stas, Landy, Jones(2)
Seriously though, I think the Avs will win this game, hopefully because we have a new coach, but probably because Giggy will get the start and we will have solid goaltending again and the Avs offense will outdo the Wild's system!
If they can do that every game they suit up, the odds will always be in their favor. If they had played the entire game like they did in the 1st period yesterday, the Avs would've gone toe-to-toe with the Pens (who are a much better team on paper).
We need to start Giguere in this one. I realize that playing Varlamov as much as we have has been to get him to get a win and bounce back that way but he needs to settle down. I wouldn't mind them playing every other game for a while. I would even tell them that so they can just focus on their games. We're not worse off with Giguere, so give him 50% of the games for a month.
I know we aren't going to rip letters off players chests, but giving As to McLeod and McClement was a bad idea. McClement is a new guy and plays a minor role. McLeod isn't very good at playing hockey and is prone to taking stupid penalties. It's like Foote with the C at the end. If you can't back things up with your play, you don't have that authority.
Hope the team plays as they did the first two periods against Pens. It was some very good hockey. If we play that way, we're going to win a lot of games.
Will we come out with a great first period and then collapse?
Perhaps sleepwalk the first 40 minutes, make it interesting, and then give up an empty net goal in the 3rd?
Maybe it'll be an even game but the Wild go 100% on their powerplay?
Or will it be a pathetic goaltending performance(again) that costs us?
Oh, the possibilities are endless with this group of clowns.
We'll surge out to a 5-0 lead but in the second intermission, Hunwick will shoot an albatross. After that Duchene and Staz will get concussions, a golf cart will drive itself through the arena and run over Johnson, and Varlamov will have a mental breakdown. Sacco and his assistants will have to lace up skates to take their places, and we'll lose 17-4. That's right, 4. Things will go so badly that one of their goals will vanish from the collective memory of everyone at the arena.
