What Would You Homer Doubters Think If This Went Down??

Dreger reports that Kovy wants to sign for 12 mil and a long term. He also says his wife wants to go to LA because of the good weather. So to clear cap for that contract he says if Kovy agrees to sign with LA this deal will happen

Carter and Gagne for Kopitar, Brown, Quick and Jack Johnson

That will clear enough cap space to sign Kovy at 12 mil it will also leave the Flyers with 600k in space with all those players coming back. Once Kovy agrees to deal Flyers will pull the trigger on the trade and then Kovy will sign minutes after. As for the 3 way thing he also reported that the Flyers will likely flip a d-man to Boston to make room for Jack Johnson.

i love it and the flyers would be STACKED!!!!!!

I think his point was, don't get mad about trading Simon Gagne until you know what the return is going to be. It could be something really good.

Giving up Johnson would be tough. Giving up Johnson? What about Kopitar, an 80+ point center? Or their #1 goalie? How about their captain? This deal is really, really bad.

I don't know how this would be doable for the Flyers capwise.
Gagne and Carter take a hit of 10.25mil, Kopitar and Brown are 9.9mil and Quick and Johnson take 3.2mil.

I'm too lazy to look up all those numbers and check if I'm correct, but it won't be possible.
Of course we could trade Carle then (because of Johnson) and Boucher.
Obviously I'd love it.

if your adding kovalchuk , carter to "replace" kopitar at center & gagne maybe their g.m likes the trade off to add kovy... its not like l.a is getting close to the finals every year with their current lineup

I'd think you left out the part where the Kings traded us Hextall for Homer.

If Kovy wants 12M per he can go play MLS with Beckham, because giving him that would be batsh!t crazy for any club.

But yes, if that somehow happened I'd feel a bit better. But the Shelley contract would still be stupid.

How so? They have the space to sign Kovalchuk. If they add him, they'll be cup contenders. They are one of the best young teams in the league.

all would be forgiven. i would find me a crow, and eat it.

that being said, there is no way LA agrees to that trade. it's beyond laughable.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the max salary a player can get $10 mil a year?

If LA was into trading all those players, they could get more than Carter and Gagne.

im not disagreeing with you...i WOULDNT do it if i was l.a's g.m, but i think teams get all juicy over the thought of a player and they think theyll be better by adding him no matter what they give up

For the Kings....Brown is more important to them than Gagne, he is their captain. IMO Kopitar is better than Carter and still has more upside. I don't think they would consider it for a second.

A Gagne for Quick deal would work though IMO.

The validity of the rumor is shot down as soon as you said "Kovy wants 12 million" ...that's impossible.

Isn't it tied to the cap ceiling? So it's gone up. If it's 20% (which is what I believe it is) then that means 11.88 million would be the max, not far off 12.

I could admittedly be remembering this wrong however.

I cant believe a thread was started about this joke. We were laughing about it in the Gagne threads last night. Some random poster put this in a reply on hockeybuzz, and Dreger didn't report it, the guy made it up. Guy said he was on espn/la radio, and someone asked dredger if he was on talkin phi/La rumors and he said nope it wasn't me. This trade wouldnt get approved in NHL'11.
