Seriously. For better or worse Anders Forsberg will have left his mark on this organization. I'm really interested to see what Markus does next year. The Swedish junor league is getting better and better all the time so his success there shouldn't be dismissed. Does anyone know if he has a chance at being in the SEL next year?

Why does Bryan Murray make this pick now? They could've waited for the 7th round to make this one and pick someone else right now that they know won't be there later.

That's a pretty big assumption. Just cause ISS or central scouting doesn't have him ranked high doesn't mean real scouts are doing the same. I'd venture a guess that a team like Detroit had him on their radar.

And you know this how? Every team has European scouts, do you really believe that Ottawa was the only team that would have seen this guy or ranked him this high? We'll never know, IMO they took who they thought was the best player available.

Anyone think this is the guy they were arguing about at the 76th pick? I know I do.
It seems like someone who they would argue over, as unranked guys are usually the guys who are seen more by 1 or 2 scouts and who 1 or 2 scouts have a stronger opinion on.

Are you from the future or something on how these guys pan out?

Yeah Detroit also got the best player in 1994 draft selecting Pavel Agarkov instead of Alfredsson.

C'mon man. At least watch the guy play a game before you make this declaration. I'm going to venture a guess that NO ONE on this board has watched him player one minute of hockey yet. Our Swedish scouts deserve the benefit of the doubt imo. I'm pretty excited by this pick.

pulkinnen was slated to be a late second rounder... sorensen is an unknown.... I'd take the well known player who obviously was in the eyes of the best drafters in the league... detroit.

I'll be surprised if this guy does more for us than Ruslan Bashkirov... he's faced ****** competition, he's undersized, he's a huge enigma and the type of player you use late draft picks on... Detroit took Pulkkinen a few picks later. That's the kind of pick we should be making.

The first thing I noticed was that Sorenson is almost at a point per game & most of the time when we see stats on Europeans I always notice that they hardly have any points in the few games that they play. The fact that this guy has what looks like pretty good stats to me in the Jr18 Elite league as an 18 yr old tells me he could be a player. Of course, I also realize it could all go the other way as well but I like to see the positive in this pick for now, I have yrs to criticize it.

so we have realistic fans like me.... and fans who think murray is a god when drafting. well you guys can hold me to this but pulkinnen is a better player hands down. and he would be able to take a hit without getting killed.

Colorado, Calgary, Dallas & Pittsburgh also passed on him, not to mention all of the teams that went before us which tells me a lot of teams thought other players were better. Detroit had some great yrs drafting gems in the later rounds but their run could be coming to an end, if it hasn't already. Only time will tell with both these guys. I'm not a fan of smaller players either but hopefully he turns into Alfredson.

Wow, you can say that before the draft even finishes? I want your crystal ball!

Sarcastic comments aside, don't be an idiot. Let's wait AT LEAST a month before trashing this draft, OK?
