Forsberg and Burda think Sorensen is a long way away, but has great potential.

Culek is OK, he's really young too so I don't mind that pick. I just dont understand this one. You have to understand that in Sweden, any player who has any skill plays in the Allsvenskan. This guy played there the year before briefly but not this year. The league he played in is the equivalent of a Junior B league, the Allsvenskan being similar to a Junior A league. It's a huge reach pick and it will be a miracle if this guy ever even comes to North America if you ask me.

Teemu Pulkkinen is clearly a future 40 goal scorer and all star. After all he was ranked high.

God this fanbase is effing negative, there is no ****ing point if we selected him or the Finish player, what's the point, were just going to run them out of town like we have with everyone else.

Skilled NA players, which aren't that much left in this draft.

Think of the last 3 1st round picks that were American... Jim O'brien, Foligno, and Lee

i heard an interesting quote a while back. A swedish development coach was talking about how Sweden decided to target the NHL with their junior development, thus going for more physical play, more strength etc. rather than follow the traditional euro model....
it seems that they are just now reaping the rewards of that program, as more and more swedes are being drafted (if even unknown) and makeing the NHL.

Finding these gems in the rough are exactly what Detroit did a few years back, and I'm hoping will pay benefits for us.

I dont think that that Euro=skill, NA=tough model will last much longer. As more Euro development leagues realize the type of player that can make the NHL and BIG BUCKS is *THE* goal, the style of player we see coming from Europe is going to change.

Look, not just the NA players are skilled at face washes... LOL

Can't really judge the pick, literally have no clue who this is.

Time will tell.

I always worry about the guys who fall, Pulkinnen was in the eyes of all thirty teams. Yeah detroit took him but they also passed on him...

ok so we haven't seen him play yet, but do we have any idea why they would pass on Pulkkinen??

I mean look at those numbers. Do our guys know something Detroit doesn't? It looks like a pretty safe pick at 106.
I thought we needed scoring.

i was pretty sure we would of taken him in the third then when we passed him again in the fourth i thought something about this guy might not be right.

i think most posters got over-hyped by other posters on these forums...

of course there is something ottawa knows about pulkinnen... why would they pass over the bpa in the fourth round?

Maybe they liked Sorensen better, yes it's a revolutionary idea

I'd give this guy a chance before we throw him under a bus
