This is not to sound negative because I do believe in not putting a label on someone, especially before they actually perform at the level that is expected of them,
but I hope that this isn't another Corey Locke.
Well at #147 there isn't many blue chip prospects left, so....
I like this pick.

That's not Corey Locke's draft year. 2002-2003 is. And besides, we don't give a ****. They are different players. Stats don't really mather.
Locke's draft year was '01-'02 but he was passed over.

Locke was 19 when drafted. He was born 5-8-84 so he was eligible for the '02 draft ('10 is for '92's, '09 is for '91's, '08 is for '90's, '07 for '89's, '06 for '88's, '05 for '87's, '04 for '86's, '03 for '85's, '02 for '84's) He turned 19 about 7 weeks before he was drafted.
His dad is the strength and conditioning coach so he has a solid background.
Seems like a good pick to me.
I saw that, good to hear. Plus he was invited to Team Canada for this summer's U-20 camp, while it will be very hard to get a spot this year, it's a good sign that he got invited and hopefully he can make a good impression on them to try and make the team in '11.

Exactly. None of the naysayers would even know that he was invited to Team Canada's WJC camp or anything else about him but they bash the pick anyway.
Thrilled with this pick. Number one, he's from the WHL, a league I think we've neglected for far too long, number two he's got some great stats, playing in a defensive league.
Hard to not like the pick. Obviously, he's a long shot, but he got the skills and the will. It's great to see an offensive guy of his size fighting once in a while. He won't do it in the pros, but he will still have that little mean streak.

yeap, I'm hoping he turns out like Brandon Dubinsky
love him on your team, hate to play against, not a dumbass player like Avery either, just a good solid hockey player overall who makes the best of what he was given
