Love this pick. Habs are starting to look for skill and will. Good idea.

Well at #147 there isn't many blue chip prospects left, so....

I like this pick.

not the same. You're talking about Benjamin Gallacher, #93 overall pick. Florida picked him.

11 goals in 16 playoff games as a 17 year old(21 points overall), that's freaking impressive.

Brendan Gallagher

2009-10 Vancouver Giants WHL 72 41 40 81 111

Corey Locke

2001-02 Ottawa 67's OHL 55 18 25 43 18

just wondering what's better in Locke's stats

really happy the Canadiens picked Gallagher. He's on of the players I wanted. I also had Ellis in the list of guys I'd be pretty happy with.

His dad is the strength and conditioning coach so he has a solid background.

Seems like a good pick to me.

That's not Corey Locke's draft year. 2002-2003 is. And besides, we don't give a ****. They are different players. Stats don't really mather.

exactly, so let's not compare apples and oranges, Locke was drafted at 18 and Gallagher is 17

Locke's draft year was '01-'02 but he was passed over.

Locke was 19 when drafted. He was born 5-8-84 so he was eligible for the '02 draft ('10 is for '92's, '09 is for '91's, '08 is for '90's, '07 for '89's, '06 for '88's, '05 for '87's, '04 for '86's, '03 for '85's, '02 for '84's) He turned 19 about 7 weeks before he was drafted.

I saw that, good to hear. Plus he was invited to Team Canada for this summer's U-20 camp, while it will be very hard to get a spot this year, it's a good sign that he got invited and hopefully he can make a good impression on them to try and make the team in '11.

Exactly. None of the naysayers would even know that he was invited to Team Canada's WJC camp or anything else about him but they bash the pick anyway.

This is a very nice 5th round pick.

Thrilled with this pick. Number one, he's from the WHL, a league I think we've neglected for far too long, number two he's got some great stats, playing in a defensive league.

It's really hard not to like this pick. Expectations have to be low, but he should be fun to watch over the next few years, especially with WJ invite.

Hard to not like the pick. Obviously, he's a long shot, but he got the skills and the will. It's great to see an offensive guy of his size fighting once in a while. He won't do it in the pros, but he will still have that little mean streak.

yeap, I'm hoping he turns out like Brandon Dubinsky

love him on your team, hate to play against, not a dumbass player like Avery either, just a good solid hockey player overall who makes the best of what he was given
