As a season ticket holder for the Plymouth Whalers, I think you guys will be pleased with Wedgewood. I do not think it was a crap shoot. He is a very good goalie who needs more experience in the net, but I think he will turn into a great prospect.
Impressive against a stacked Windsor team, but you can't base his talent on one game. He's the starter this year and bunch of guys are leaving (Hall, Young, Henrique) so let's see what he has with a less talented team.
He plays for Plymouth not Windsor but idk what their situation is I hope he just gets a ton of playing time
I'm just surprised we took a guy that seemed like such a reach at that spot without trading down. I have to think Wedgewood might have been available a few picks lower, or even at our fourth round spot. But what do I know, maybe he wouldn't have been.
The kid before him signed with his NHL team (Min?).
Right, but he could still have his spot usurped, like what happened to Frazee. I'm just hoping he is going to be the starter in Plymouth for the next couple years so he develops properly.

Hopefully he has a better attitude than Frazee did back then.
I can't pan this pick too much. Even if Wedgewood busts, at least we have Clermont as an insurance policy.
Honestly, when I look at them I see the relationship going the other way around. Which is fine, it doesn't matter so long as they're in competition with one another.

Clermont might end up being the better goalie, but Wedgewood has more to live up to because of his draft position. Either way, I'm glad we have two worthwhile goalie prospects from this draft, and nobody gets unfairly anointed "Marty's heir" before he is ready for it.
I still would like to see one more goalie in the mix. McKenna is not an NHLer. Go to SJ, trade for one of their guys and have him duke it out with Frazee in Albany. I like Sateri, but I'm not sure how high SJ is on him. That was a kid I wanted NJ to go for in the '08 after not getting Markstrom. Greiss is the starter as of now, so he might be expendable.
