Souray to sharks?

This is my first time proposing so forgive my ignorance.

To SJ:
Souray

To EDM:
Clowe
Murray

(would there be picks needed going either way?)

SJ needs:
blake replacement(PMD with good shot and size)

EDM needs: forward scoring depth, and murray just brings a ton of physicality(not sure if that's actually a need).

-If a trade happens, does it have to be seto going to the oilers?(I know you guys would prefer him), or does clowe work?

-Someone on the sharks board thinks trading within the conference is super bad, is this true? lol...

I wouldn't give up that much for Souray with all his injury troubles. It's too bad, too, since he's still a good player.

Wow Clowe!?!

Huge overpayment from SJ sadly. I'd love this to go down but

:
Souray

:
Huskins
Mitchell

is the classic, already discussed fairer one.

Fair point, we aren't expecting that much back, plus I think honestly if we are trading Souray there needs to be another D man involved. Edited because I didn't know Murray was a D man

Only reason I put clowe is because SJ can't afford to do this without salary going the other way. Clowe is our most expensive 2nd liner(unless seto gets a raise this offseason), murray is also slightly overpaid for what he does.

If you cant already afford Souray's caphit theres no point in trading for him.

He's not one of those players you go well out of your way to make room for.

Wallin, Huskins, Mitchell for Souray and a 2nd

I doubt either team does that trade but I wanted to prove that we can get Souray without Clowe.

That being said, Souray is way too expensive for us to trade for him, even though he would fit here. I rather give Volchenkov $5 mil than to trade for Souray's $5.4

Honestly, I think Souray is a much better player than he is given credit for. However, the first offer is an overpayment in terms of his true value amongst the league. Which regardless of how highly I regard Souray, is not that good at the moment.

I'd happily do something that involved Edmonton getting Murray tho.

Honestly at this point I'd take a Heatley autograph puck for him. He's terrible Defensively and even though he can score 20 goals he'll be on the ice for 100.

Doug Wilson would be fired for that.

Souray is a one dimensional, over paid and often injured Dman, no way he even gets Clowe or Murray one-for-one.

Any deal for Souray is going to be a bad salary in return. If Redden had less years on his contract the Rangers and Oilers probably could have a deal.

problem there is you start trading so many players and you have to replace those players too, wallin's 3rd pair replacement=nearly 1m most likely, same with mitchell.

I hadn't realized how many oilers fans place zero value in souray, he had one of the worst years in his career but wasn't he at least decent in his 25 goal scoring years? I haven't watched him, but it seemed in the poll I made on the main boards that he's at least better than kaberle lol...

Souray's HUGELY underrated by people here. I don't know where the moniker that he's weak defensively comes from. He's not a shutdown guy, but he's very effective in his own end. Makes a BIT more than he should, but he's a high 4mil - low 5mil kind of guy on the open market.

When he signed the contract it was a little under market value, the most id personally want to pay for Souray is Mitchell, Murray and Huskins and we would maybe need a mid pick back, but I think he would be a very good fit here as long as he can provide Murray's big hits and is still a PP specalist

I'd prefer something like

To
Sheldon Souray
Andrew Cogliano
2nd

To
Ryane Clowe
Douglas Murray

That seems better.

That said, what do you think Cog's is going to get contract wise?

This is better than the OP's. Still don't care for Souray, but wouldn't be surprised if DW has a man-crush on him.

I think we could sign Cogs to a 8-8.5m/3yr deal, but would rather try and see if we can add a something to get Brule...
