I'd throw in Alzner as well.

Reinhart could play in the NHL now IMO.

He's also a lot leaner than I thought. He's big but I thought he'd be wider. Lean hips for a defenseman like him.

There was a Kenny Jonnson compaison thrown around as well. I think he becomes that type of player for the Isles.

not the worst thing....KJ was a very steady and reliable player for us....

As a #4 overall I hope he becomes better than KJ but if he does not, I wouldn't be upset with KJ..

I was always huge on KJ, I don't see any area that Grif really excels at over Kenny (hopefully more durable), but he seems similar in many areas...I think if he's a similar player to KJ that will be a great pick for the Isles, and if Pulock reached his upside you have a couple very nice top pairing guys who should complement each other well.

Made the Isles final roster....Could be just for the 9 games but he had a very good pre season and really impressed...

Personally I would play him over Carkner 7 days a week and twice on sunday....

We shall see though...

Are the Islanders going to play him or just have him watch then send him back?? The Oil Kings could use him.

I'd expect him back by the end of the week.

With Strome last year they had him up for like 5 games but didn't play him, could be the same with Reinhart. I doubt it though, I think he gets a look.

Even if they just have him sit and watch, that's their decision and with all due respect I don't think Snow, Capuano, etc. should be concerned with what the Oil Kings need.

so the islanders sent reinhart back to the oil kings, but the oil kings named lazar as their captain. are they going to take the c away from lazar and give it back to reinhart?

Too good for the WHL, and not ready for the NHL.

Nino was in the same spot and wondering that maybe Islanders learned a thing or two with how they handled him. There should be an exceptional rule that allows certain players under the age of 20 can play in the AHL if they are projected to flat out dominate their junior league which Reinhart is going to do.

Doesn't look like domination by the stats...? What's the issue? He has no offense? And yet he was #4th overalll....

I think Griff does a lot of things that may not show up on the stat sheet.... Just look at the Oil Kings Goalie Tristan Jarry's numbers before and after Griff was sent back. He plays a sound positional game and its not like hes been completely absent 6 pts in 12 games with a +6 and 19 PIMS, pretty much on par with the previous 2 years projections. He's a valuable commodity in that hes a guy on the blue line that can really eat up some minutes and play in all situations. Hes already got an NHL Body at 6'4 205 at only 19 and will still put on some weight... Hes not Erik Karlsson, and I understand with the 4th overall pick you want a guy that is gonna put up numbers, but hes just as valuable as one of those guys. Every team needs a guy or 2 like Griff when putting together their D Corps. If he can turn into a top pairing minute munching dman the pick will be well justified.

Honestly didn't like the pick by the Islanders at the time and still don't like it. Never saw a ton of offensive talent from him, and his totals in his draft year were inflated by a very good Oil Kings team. Still could end up as a solid defensive dman in the league, but I think Murray, Rielly, Trouba, and Lindholm will all turn out to be better dmen from that draft.

Hes def dominate defensively...As long as hes clearing the crease and breaking up offensive chances by the opposition then hes fine....Hes a good but not great skater and makes good outlet passes...I don't think it really matters that hes not over powering on the offensive side...Also he is 19 years old so the fact is there is still much room to grow...

Stats don't tell everything.. Shea weber didn't light up the dub offensively and now he's considered one of the best dmen in the nhl. If there's one thing I'd want Reinhart to add to his game at the moment it would be to play a meaner type of game. He's already a really cerebral kind of player and rarely makes mistakes and also has a bomb of a shot. I like his game, flashy doesn't always mean better.

Would Bogosian, Suter, and Seabrook be in that list? Not sure what their scouting reports were like during their draft year.

EDIT: Oh, ad Erik Gudbranson for sure.

Personally, I see him being comparable to a guy like Brayden Coburn in terms of playing styles. Moves around well for a guy his size and owns both shutdown and all-around qualities. Hes capable of logging big minutes and is a very effective puck mover. I do find at times he doesn't use his huge frame enough to his advantage, which limits his effectiveness. I'd like to see him develop more of a mean streak in his game.. Has a great point shot and uses it effectively which will give him minutes on the powerplay at nhl level. Overall, I see him becoming a big minute eating dman who is more than capable of playing in all situations.

Reminds me a ton of Chris Phillips. Not the quickest, but has good positioning and hockey sense, and an above average passer. I think Isles fans would take 1100+ games played any day of the week for a fourth overall pick.

I'd rank his play as about a 7/10 that looked like 10/10 because the rest of the defensemen were all drinking from the same tainted water bottle.

He seemed to be trying to force things as far as rushing the puck. He's plenty capable, I am sure but I don't reckon he's going to be rushing the puck that much at the NHL level.

It seems as though him and Dumba were confused as to which of them was suppose to cover for the other guy.
