Qualifying offers

Brule has received his qualifying offer as per his agent J.P. Barry.

http://twitter.com/JasonGregor

Edit:
"Goaltender Jeff Deslauriers and center Sam Gagner are two of 10 players to receive qualifying offers Monday from the Edmonton Oilers."

"Forwards Gilbert Brule, Andrew Cogliano, Colin Fraser, J.F. Jacques, Ryan O'Marra and Liam Reddox along with defenseman Theo Peckham and netminder Devan Dubnyk also received offers from the team."

Potulny and Pouliot did NOT receive offers.

Brule won't get a great contract from arbitration. Something in the realm of 1.5-1.75M I'd imagine.

Benoit Pouliot just signed a one year deal for 1.35M. Not a huge gap between he and Brule IMO.

That's good, he was a gimme, so is Fraser.

Who's all eligible again?

Edit: Speak of Brule, anyone think he should be the 2nd line center? He's offensive, gritty and works hard, I think it would be a good fit. Between MPS/Eberle and Penner.

Not surprising. They may be appart in negotiations, but I couldn't see Edmonton walking away from him completely. He'll be an Oiler next year, even if he is awarded a substantial raise.

I think Brule might be a good fit with Hall. He definitely has the speed to keep up, and as you said he's gritty, got skill and works hard.

Well I don't think there are really any better options at this point. But yeah I do.

lol, that was my other thought too, unfortunately. Though this current team, could do worse then Brule.

The fact that Brule only got a QO isnt exactly good news, on one hand it gives them more time to work out a deal, on the other hand it means arbitration is looming.

Stauffer said JDD, DD, Cogs, Gagner, Brule, Colin Fraser, JFJ, Theo Peckham, Liam Reddox, Ryan O'Marra are all qualified.

MAP and Potulny were not qualified!

Paukovich, Hrabal among others that were not qualified.

I am personally happy that O'Marra was kept. I was worried about that one and he took some big strides as a shut down center in the AHL last season. He faced the top guys from other teams every night and held his own.

Wow, I didn't think that Potulny wouldn't get qualified.

Good to see that O'Marra did.

I just hope the Oilers didn't qualift Pouliot because they don't want to give him the mandatory raise, and they're working on signing him for less than his current deal.

He's much better than any of O'Marra, Jacques, or Reddox. "Grit" aside. I'd take him over Potulny (who didn't get a QO) as well.

EDIT - Then again, I'd take a re-signed Pisani over any of them.

That Pouliot and, to a lesser extent, Potulny didn't receive QOs, yet O'Marra and JFJ did is troubling.

MAP and Potulny were not qualified. Wow. I would have choosen Jacques instead of MAP. I guess it means they have given up on MAP? I am okay with this as he didn't show much heart in the years I have watched him.

That was my thought too. As a first-rounder he was making quite a lot. Hopefully he'll still re-sign. If camp ends and they don't have a place for him they can put him on waivers.
