What is the realistic trade value for Giroux or JVR?

Let's say you HAD to trade Giroux and JVR, not as a package but separate, what team and who would you look for in return? And I mean not a dream trade, but something you believe a GM would actually take. I know they're good, but after talking value with others it seems they don't believe Giroux could bring in someone like Quick from the Kings. Your thoughts on what we could (if we had to) get in return for them?

Sometimes the best trades are the ones you don't make.

Quick + Schenn + Teubert + 1st

No, I'm actually not over-exaggerating.

0 because I am not entertaining the idea of trading either of them.

Yeah, it's kind of a pointless question because after Roo's run and the goalie FA market, it'd be retarded to trade either one barring a Godfather offer.

The trade value is: you'd have to be retarded to trade them.

Well this is sort of what I was expecting, I know no one WANTS to trade them, but if you had to what would you ask for in return? That's all.

Teams could not afford what I would want for Claude. On the other hand I would move JVR for Schneider,Hodgson,Bieksa (Van) or Bernier,Teubert,Simmonds(LA) I can at least dream.

The Flyers can't afford to move them unless it's for players on ELCs or cheap contracts.

We all love Giroux, but that is because we know what he is capable of and what his potential is. He has no real accomplishments as of now so his trade value is a lot less than what his actual value is.

Giroux is impossible to trade because of his salary to skill ratio. Who else makes that little and plays that amazing? Maybe Stamkos? No clue how much he makes though?

Jeeze people, it's a hypothetical. He's not asking you if you would trade them or if it makes sense to trade them. He is asking what would you want in return if you had to move one of them.

I would trade JVR for either Price or Bernier, but neither would be dealt.

About Quick, the only reason why they wouldn't get him return for either is because at present the Kings do not want to deal either goalie, but in terms of value JVR and Giroux have more. I would not deal either for him.

26 points in 29 playoff games is certainly a real accomplishment.

Stamkos had more goals than Giroux had points. The two are not comparable players. It doesn't even make sense to try. And this is coming from someone who absolutely loves Giroux's game.

Pretty sure he wasn't implying in the least that Giroux is on Stamkos' level.

I don't know why people are so much lower on JVR than they are on Giroux. JVR will be as good as, if not better than, Giroux. Bigger players take longer to hit their potential.

To answer the original question, to trade both of them it would take a hell of a lot. Especially considering this team's needs. Just to throw a formula out there

Starting goalie+high quality forward prospect+3rd line roster player+first round pick

is where I would set the value. Given the current goalie market I would not take that deal, tho

Not to speak for anyone else, but my concern with JVR is that I'm not seeing the commitment shift-to-shift, so while the size & skill are clearly there I'm not sold on him becoming the player we all hope he can be. The challenge is to either tap that potential, or figure out that it's not going to happen and move him before the rest of the league catches on. We're clearly not at that point yet, but if we're seeing the same guy this time next summer I'll be ready to explore a trade, depending on what's offered.
