He's a very good skater, good speed. Has a good hard slap shot but doesn't have much creativity offensively. Great on faceoffs as the stats show. Solid PKer but also has a tendency to make some soft plays at times. I wouldn't call him gritty, can't say that I remember him being all that physical.

I'd say the best thing about him is he can play in a top 6 role if needbe. He isn't limited to just being a responsible defensive forward.

Very good character guy.

Great PKer and is dominant in the faceoff circle. Gritty, plays the whole 60min with a mission to win. Very good defensive forward. Hes a very classy and likable guy though. The Canucks are very fortunate to have him on their team.

He doesn't like wet socks so he skates barefoot.

Your 2.5m=good faceoff guy, 14-15 goals if given some time on the 2nd, good pker, speed.

He wont score too often in the playoffs, but he'll give you an advantage on faceoffs and help kill a few pk's(hawks still scored a ppg every game against us except for one, but I guess that's more on our D).

Nothing wrong with barefoot skating.

Basically, everyone here loves him regardless of his limited scoring ability for his defense, speed, and mostly the fact that he works his ass off every second of the game and is a likable guy. Shouldn't bee any problem blending in the the Nucks' locker room.

Miss you, Manny

Say if you are part Gandhi-Indian and part Pocahontas-Indian, do you then have a "Super" Indian?

Manny struggled a bit in the beginning of last season, and I remember everyone getting on his case. But soon his strong PK and defensive efforts shed all that away and become one of the more appreciated players. He's the who'll do all the right things and won't leave you scratching your head. I'd say 2.5 mil is proper compensation for him. I'm going to hate Vancouver next year.

Awesome guy, he's really nice. Great on the PK, has decent speed, and can have a pretty wicked slapper. But he's not that creative offensively. He will be missed here in San Jose.

SharksAddict summed things up pretty nicely, so to add on; Manny rarely takes any shifts off or half-steps on a forecheck/backcheck. Puts up some decent numbers for a 3rd liner, somewhat gritty (will defend teammates, does not fight), though he can be hot and cold from time to time. Will quickly become a fan favorite, that I guarantee you.

He will become a fan favorite, but don't expect him to move up the depth chart, because (as mentioned) he doesn't have enough of a scoring touch to move up.

faceoffs, faceoffs, faceoffs. Malhotra, and Nichol, were both picked up mainly for their faceoff abilities and 3rd/4th line grit.

Malhotra came in and instantly won over fans with great work ethic, decent speed, and honestly one of the best attitudes I have ever seen in a player.

He will be great for Vancouver, the only thing I could even nitpick at is the $2.5 mil, but it really is not that bad if you have the cap room...
