Ott/Edm

Chris Campoli RFA
for
Andrew Cogliano RFA

I think this deal benefits both teams. Campoli has the ability to become #3 or #4 d-man but in the meantime will be very solid as a #5-#6.

Cogliano would look good as Ott third line center.

Makes sense for both teams in my opinion.

I take it Campoli has had some injury issues due to his games played for most of his seasons. The proposal is not a bad one as far as what each team needs. As an Oiler fan I don't really want to lose Cogliano, he still has a lot of potential.

I'd do it, I love Cogs but on a roster of smurfs he seems to be the odd man out.

Unless the Sens want Nilsson? Yes? C'mon...

Wasn't he traded for a 1st rounder? He would look good with Smid, but the Stafford-Cogs swap seems more reasonable. (Buffalo)

I like this proposal. It helps both teams and gives both players a new start. Won't cost either team a lot of money to sign their player also.

Where do I sign? I think this makes sense for both teams. Campoli will eventually get lost in the mix and Edmonton have an influx of forwards.

I typically don't respond to proposals but this one is great!

Ottawa needs defence. Maybe if they sign Z.Michalek or some other UFA D. Ottawa also has way to many NHL level forwards, Cogs would be 4th line on the sens

Spezza, Fisher, Kelly, Winnie, Smith
I think Cogs would be 4th after Kelly

No. Cogliano doesn't fit any of Ottawa's needs. I much prefer Campoli.

And Campoli does not supply that whatsoever. But you are right, Ottawa has too many bottom six forwards at the moment, though Cogliano would be a nice addition if Murray could clear out space.

Cogs can play LW IIRC. This is a great deal for the Sens... Cogs had a terrible year, but he was playing with Moreau, Stortini, and Potulny for most of the season.

I would expand the trade to Campoli+Shannon for Cogliano.

Cogliano would leave no room for Shannon on this team as a speedy 2nd/3rd line winger.

Regin-Spezza-Michalek
Cullen-Fisher-Alfie
Cogliano-Kelly-Kovalev
Ruutu-Smith-Neil
Foligno

Now that is a sick group of forwards. It would also give us the flexibility to pick between Z.Michalek and Cullen in FA and still roll 4 lines deep with Foligno inserted into the lineup if we get Michalek instead of Cullen.

I don't know what's more horrific. The fact that Kelly is centering our 3rd line with Kovalev or Foligno as a "spare"

Regin-Spezza-Michalek
Alfredsson-Cullen-Kovalev
Foligno-Fisher-Cogliano
Ruutu-Kelly-Neil
Smith

Only thing i don't like about this trade is we need to give Wick and Butler a chance and Cogliano will ruin that chance for them.

I'd rather keep Campoli, Cogliano doesn't really fit anywhere on the roster.

Better than the Brian Lee option...

Good value wise, but the Sens already have very good depth up front. We're trying to improve our puck movement, and having a guy like Campoli on the bottom pair really helps in playing a fluid game. I'd pass from the Sens perspective.

Value-wise, it's spot on.

But Edmonton needs more size on the D position that Campoli would take (likely #3/4).

Ottawa's 2nd line LW would be better off, but I think Ottawa would like a less questionable player (ie, somebody who would be a surefire 2nd liner hitting .5 PPG- likely a UFA vet), likely with more size too.

No way. Campoli is a very useful puck mover on a team in need of that kind of player. Cogliano is fast... and that's about it. I love our bottom pairing of Camps and Carks. There's no reason to break that up.

Cogliano would have to play on our 4th line where I'd rather have guys like Winchester and Smith.

You think Cogliano > Michalek? Can I have your dealer's number?

Can't do it. Too many 'Coglianos' coming up the ranks. They need their time and space to make the team.

EDIT: Good proposal though. I think it favours the Sens a little to be honest, but it was a good try.

We get a 3rd for the inconvenience of signing an Dman that is similar to Campoli who will make about 300k more.

And it's not like Edmonton would ever do that. All I was saying is we would need a decent overpayment to get it done.
