I'm thinking yes. Dean knows this team needs more scoring, and that's what Kovalchuk does, he scores. I also think he'll announce the signing of Doughty, and quite possibly Johnson. I believe he already has the numbers for Doughty and Johnson hammered out, it's just he has to wait till July 1st to have them cross the T's and dot the I's. With those 2 out of the way, that gives him an idea of what they can give Kovalchuk. Hell, I'm betting the offer is already in ink and it's sitting in the fax machine waiting to be sent over to Kovalchuk and his agent come July 1st 12:00:01 am.

I think they have to wait until 9 PT, or is that just to sign?

Interesting perspective...I don't know about Johnson already being squared away, but I do believe that Doughty will be extended soon.

I could see Doughty and Simmonds having a deal close to being done, but not Johnson. I think that Johnson would like to wait and have a stronger season before negotiating a new contract.

We will know for sure within 48 hours. I personally think Dean is going to get it done. There isn't a more perfect time or scenario for him to acquire this team's #1 need going into the future. The Kings have no elite wingers and little to no winger depth. It is time to use our big FA bullet and pull the trigger, even if we are talking high salary.

Taking into consideration that there are 2 NO votes from visitors, the YES votes are looking good thus far.
A few weeks back I really started buying into what the PRO Kovi's where saying - a BIG yes from me, can't wait to here th announcement.

I am too.

I thought for sure the "no" votes to "yes" votes would be something close to 3 to 1.

You know what's a bigger surprise?

That you still haven't figured out the difference between "their" and "there". You need to get this ironed out prior to July 1st!

You dig???

Dont see the Islanders happening, no one to give him the puck properly, and I think Lighthouse is still a mess, right? This is his long-term stability contract.

So, all math majors struggle with basic grammar?

I'm just giving you hard time.

I still have problem figuring out when to use "effect" and "affect".

"It just wasn't the right price"

"Not sure Kovalchuk was the right player at this time"

"We did what we could but we had a number in mind and <insert team name here> obviously went higher"

"The term was more than we were willing to take on"
