I'm just giving you hard time.

I still have problem figuring out when to use "effect" and "affect".

To affect something is to change or influence it. To effect something is a rather formal way of saying `to make it happen'. Confusingly, either may produce an 'effect' or result.

Either you're a believer or you're not.

It really is that simple!

I voted no, I think someone will overpay for him and Dean's not going to put us in a position where we won't be able to re-sign guys like Doughty.

The first time i saw the rumor on ESPN I had the music on and the TV sound off, but the captioned said the rumor was that he was coming to the kings and I ran over to try and catch the whole story but missed it so I sat there hoping, just short of praying, that it was true.
The next couple of days took forever and then it was confirmed, this is like that week in August 1988, its taking forever , hard to believe it will happen, but it will.
Much like the movie DL has built a good team and he will come, he has too, we have been good fans, patient, caring, loyal as hell, we deserve this, and the moon is in the seventh house and there is only 2 seasons before the world ends for us to win the cup, please let him come please.....ok so I voted yes

PS....... didn't we just do this last year with Hossa and the year before with the like of briere and gomez

I'll take reason's why the LA Kings chose not to sign the best FA available in the year 2010...the only acceptable reason is "Not sure Kovalchuk was the right player at this time", anything to do with $'s is out the door - with cap going up in a bad economy, expiring contacts over the next 2 yrs, plenty of prospects to keep us under the cap there is no other reason than "not the right player" then I would want to know who DL considers the right player.

"Kings sign Randy Jones to a 4yr contract extension noting his great contributions in the lockerroom and on the ice."

"He's just got a lot of heart and you know...he's great for this team."

I've been sick with obsession over the past week, ever since I read Lebrun's article about Lombardi going for Kovy's rights.

48 hours to go, basically. Less than that. I can't wait. If we don't get him I will honestly be shocked and saddened.

Kovy will sign one year with a contender and next year he will hit the payload. I think he wants to go to an east team this year that will compete. Similar to Hossa, and next year see if the KINGS\BLUES\AVS are contenders. We are not there yet with Smyth and Williams on our first line. Then again DL might gives us the best gift ever and a shot at the cup.

No he's not. Hossa did it because he was already 30, Kovalchuk will get a deal of 7+ years with a team on the verge of contending for a cup. Who will it be? we'll know tomorrow.

Yes Kovy will sign with the LA Kings this year, or I will not post for a month.

If Kovalchuk signs with the emerging Kings, getting more chances to prove himself in the Stanley Cup Playoffs will not be a problem.
I like this!

"This hasn't been a well-kept secret," said the league source. "Maybe the Kings sensed there probably aren't more than three or four teams seriously in the hunt, and wanted to get the word out they were prepared to dig deep. There is always going to be that surprise team, like Chicago last summer grabbing (Marian) Hossa for 12 years. But heading into July 1, the Kings are the front-runners."

When you re trying to sell a team, you don't give out huge contracts. This is why a team like Dallas has a budget below the cap.

Plus, would Kovalchuk really want to go to St Louis?
