Wow, If Edmonton moves Souray we might actually have to take on salary just to make the salary floor of 43.4M.

As has been said, Oilers made the right move here. They'll save money and get youngsters in the line-up, win-win for the Oilers. It will be a fun year to watch hockey in Edmonton this year. But only for the true hockey fan!

Well we're (the Oilers) the ones to blame for Vanek

I'd give them every shot to make it at training camp but i'm apprehensive about dressing four rookies.

Im happy its not my decision though

Yeah I get your point and I agree with it. I don't think we're going on a spending spree. I just think/hope we make one big move for one big player and that's it.

Wasn't aware of that, thanks.

Yeah, I think he will. I also question if Omark will be on the team next year, so that might be the one change to the proposed lineup.

But you have to factor in the $10mil we'll be paying Kovalchuk.

I thought these guys were all put on waivers today. Don't the 29 other teams have 24 hours to claim them before they can be bought out?

hall's contract will be 3.75

when you factor in Gagner, Brule, Fraser, and a few others--oilers will be at about 54mill

oilers have 34 mill in 11 players--Hall 3.75. eberle 1.75, MPS, 1.75. Omark 1.5, toss in the 1.5 in cap space for buyouts--the contracts will add up quickly

Even as a Habs fan, I'm also an Eberle fan (for his junior performances) and am looking forward to seeing some of these young guys in NHL action.

Assuming RFA resignings and no UFA signings:

Penner-Gagner-Hemsky
Hall-Brule-MPS/Eberle
Jones-Horcoff-Cogliano
Jacques-Fraser-Stortini

Tentative of course, but it looks nice.

I think Cog's future is a little up in the air.
I have a good feeling Eberle/Hall will most definitely make it. Eberle for sure, Hall will as long as he bulks up a bit. MPS could possibly use some AHL conditioning but the SEL (That is where he played, correct?) is pretty good competition. Omark is the one that I see most likely going to the AHL, but I wouldn't mind him in Copper and Blue come this fall.
