So they could have the worst TV ratings possible?

I know it's mid-evening in Finland, but I'm not sure if this Europe thing is the greatest idea. The crowd has been pretty quiet.

Gotta love the spotlight guy in Hartwall Arena, make a good save-spotlight, get a penalty-spotlight...

Maybe they need to focus on the small countries where hockey is growing (Slovenia, Austria, Denmark) and put the teams with that countries best player there. At this point, I don't think Finland and Sweden really care all that much.

Watching the Versus pre game show before the blockbuster game (Philly/Pitt), I love JR-he tells it the way he see's it..

We could be watching the Eastern Conference Champion in this opener.... Philly is ready for a Cup run imo, they have done well building their current roster, and I like their coach.

Great time (NHL opening day 2010-2011) to mention Jody Shelly since he is a Flyer now, he and Z together makes me think of the Blue Jackets but it's the Flyers I'm watching...

Oh, how bout Laviolette starting the 22 year old Russian Sergei Bobrovsky in goal..... now that is how one builds an organization.

Saw it, the fans in Toronto are second to none; to bad their team is worse than Russian roulette.

So glad to see Shelly still playing after all these years. Back when he first skated for the Jackets, I am not sure I would have taken a bet that he would still be on an NHL roster in 2010. Glad he has lasted though. Quality guy!

Now as far as Nicky goes, 10 years after his Blue Jacket debut.............not sure if he will be NHL or KHL.

He was good in the preseason. Watching him tonight, though, he's gotten really lucky, and he's been giving up a lot of rebounds. Not getting a lot of help around his net, either. Still, he's better than their other option.

Or, the typical rookie goalie epinephrine that works for 30-40 games... Mason and Varlamov know about it..

If one wants to talk about goalies, Montreal must have had a brain hemorage when they kept Price over Halak.. Halak was not a 22 year old (or younger) last season, he's 25 with several years in the minors and Olympic experience to boot. . Watch out for the Blues....

This is great. I joined the HD crowd a couple of weeks ago with a new TV. I DVR'd the Helsinki game and have been sitting here having a couple of beers and celebrating the start of the season. I was always content with my old TV but watching the games in high def is unreal.

Best news of all, I was able to book off tomorrow afternoon to watch the Jackets start off the Arniel era in style. Life is good - cheers to a good season everyone.

It's my opinion that the NHL has gained more with HD than any of the other major 4 sports...at least the rookie hockey fan can now see the puck!

Enjoy, I will be here tomorrow. The Sharks are picked by many to win the Western Conference, if.... I'll stop there.

Kinda weird seeing Hejduk still playing. It's almost like he shouldn't be, now that Sakic and Forsberg aren't.

Fact: Fleury is the most overrated goaltender in the NHL.

Wow, your on a roll tonight.... Most media reports I have read say he has some issues, if I must give an opinion (I will anyway), he's good but not that good.
