Tambellini is doing things the right way. Similar to Howson, it's going to take a bit before he can clear out his predecessor's mistakes.
Could be, he's in his third season now and appears to be in the running for another first pick in the draft. Things can change quickly this early in the season but if I where Oil fan I'd be restless. Nevertheless, I'm glad he's in Edmonton and not Columbus....
I like Beninati, too. He seems more creative with his call of the game than other PBP guys:
I think Beninati may emulate Doc Emerick somewhat. He does make the call interesting by giving some background and stories, not as much as Emerick but similar.
Why do Bill Patrick and Beninati say oookay Joe, then Joe will say ooookay Bill, after an update from Hockey Central? I haven't heard it tonight, but many times I have. Seems like they don't care for each other much.
So how does everybody feel about the new all-star game format? Personally I like it and think its a good idea by the league. I already watch the entry draft which is full of players I don't know. This would be like a real life fantasy draft full of players I know and keep tabs on. Plus it will be kind of cool to see how highly Nash is thought of by the players. Will he be a top 8 pick or will he be snubbed and be pick 30? This is of course assuming the NHL does this right and has a televised All-Star draft and not just a press release of the rosters...

Unless they can get the players to give a crap about the All-Star game, I don't see any of these changes making the event worth watching.

First, I agree with Brendan Shanahan, one of the architects of this new format, when he says:
Quote:
"I think (there would be a difference) if a suit from the NHL was tapping me on the shoulder and telling me to go out and win a event, as opposed to Wayne Gretzky or Mario Lemieux tapping me on the shoulder saying 'The team's depending on you,"' said Shanahan. "There's a different feel when your peers are asking you to do something for the team. It becomes a little bit more competitive."
Second, it's an exhibition game. I have never quite figured out why folks feel the need to see these games as somehow more than they are.

go falcons! (from an almost alumni, switched majors/ schools after 2 years at BG, still love them, though... ay ziggy zoomba!)
The Flyers put up 8 goals one day after we do.
Semin is hot. (no pun intended)
Was watching the Preds/Blues game earlier, not rooting for anyone, just hoping someone wins in regulation, and of course it goes to OT.
The Sabres and Devils still haven't won at home.
FYI: The Ohio State/Alaska-Fairbanks Men's Hockey series this weekend is being played at Nationwide Arena. The games are Friday at 1:45 and Saturday at 8:05. Tickets are cheap. Definitely worth checking out

I think you mean NEXT weekend, Sam...the 26th and 27th. Nationwide Arena is hosting Sesame Street Live this weekend

I was just clicking around the internet and found this, my posting of it is not directed at the player or team but something our young guns (Brassard, Filatov and Voracek) should read..
Quote:
"In my first seasons, Imlach told me to go for goals and not worry about checking. That really helped me get my confidence. The first few years I was there, it was loose. I was rushing the puck a lot. We had style." He (Punch Imlach) showed me video tapes of me in games to prove I was shifting one way too much. He got me to shoot faster; not to nurse the puck for careful aiming. He also wanted me to shoot more and to cut down on what he called 'walking in' on the goalie, something I developed on finding my slap shot wasn't hard enough."
Most here know the Canucks, well here's a tip, if you as a hockey fan want to see one of the best regular season overtime wins of all time watch the Vancouver/Buffalo OT from tonight. If you do it started with a power play and both teams were stunning.

The Canucks fascinate me, and it's not just my well-posted loved for their jersey.
Da Blues are tanking...well, sort of. Injuries are taking a toll, Oshie should have stayed out of that scum in Columbus...

I like the subject to be about the words as much as the hockey, it gets attention and some action on the board when there is none.
