What is going on today? I am pleased with both of Slats signings so far. I am glad we kept Christensen. Two years for under 1 mill per is low risk with potential for a solid return. Now don't do anything dumb Sather and sign George Laraque.
Good deal for both Rangers and Christensen. This board pretty much agreed that he was in the $800K to $1 M range per year. So for a longer term deal when we all know he will up his numbers this year (injuries aside) looks fine to me.
Larry Brooks tweets that if Shelley doesn’t re-sign to expect the Rangers to be in on Derek Boogard of the Minnesota Wild
there we go!!!
All over this. This would get the Flyers attention, and it would be nice to have him around to show our new gunslingers the ropes. BRW, am I the only one who thinks somebody took Sather out to a strip club with no windows or clocks in it and is telling him it's still Wednesday night? What the hell, Glen, this isn't like you!
Tortorella moved him to wing because he wanted to give less responsibility to Dubinsky while he was learning to become more consistent.
But, he's going to be put back at center because he is an effective player at both ends of the rink, and Tortorella is going to want Dubinsky more involved.
I think collectively, we need to get passed this notion of am "elite" top line center.
We have capable centers in our organization.
Gaborik doesn't need an elite center. He needs a guy who can control the puck, give him time to get open, and someone he can pass to and vice versa.
Dubinsky and/or Anisimov are capable.
Not only that, but by giving them that opportunity, you save cap space to be used elsewhere, more specifically making this more then a one-line team.
Agreed. Even though why I can see why next FA they might wanna try for one I still don't think they need one. i think if they stay committed to building from within the current prospects we will will fulfill that "capable enough" role cheaply and for many years to come.
Somehow Christensen haggled us lol. It's alright it's not THAT much money. I can't say I'm unhappy about this I'm just surprised he was able to get more out of us.
It's called negotiating. He didn't get a huge bump in the offer, but he got enough to warrant rejecting the first one. I didn't understand the vitriol for him on the board when he rejected it; this is how the game is played.
