Souray/Clowe (SJ/EDM) and Murray/Chimera (WSH/SJ)

I tweaked the famous Mitchell/Huskins for Souray proposal a little bit.

Sheldon Souray
Andrew Cogliano

Ryane Clowe
Torrey Mitchell
Kent Huskins

Analysis:Oilers get rid of Souray, but have to give up Cogliano and take 2 bad contracts, but they do get a good 20 goal/40 assist power forward.

Thoughts? Oh, and also, which proposal is better? This one or Clowe+Murray for Souray?

Jason Chimera

Douglas Murray

Analysis: Sharks get a little speed which is needed and Murray is a 3rd pairing D-man who doesn't have a spot on the roster IMO because we have Huskins/Demers/Wallin as bottom pairing guys. Caps get a shutdown defenseman capable of playing top-4 minutes occasionally.

As an Oiler fan I ask for Murray to be included in the deal and figure something out around the proposed package.

Clowe plays LW, so I'll pass.

I would take that!

We dump Clowe/Murray's contracts, get Chimera for bottom 6, get a cheaper and better 2nd line forward and a great top 4 D. I'm in

Nevermind didn't see Cogliano

For PwnsSoccer, Clowe plays both wings equally well. He was on Pavelski's right with Michalek, and left with Setoguchi.

I'd be pretty happy moving Murray for Chimera however, because he is one of my favorite third liners, and he grit, two-way ability, and elite speed.

Also, we get Cogliano for Clowe along w/ Souray, so yup...and as good as Clowe is, we need to dump his salary

So you're saying I made a good proposal?

I like the proposal. But I'd like Murray as well for our blueline.

It's not a need, but it is very important we get rid of him. He is slow and we need more speed in our top 6. And with Couture getting better, I think in a few years Couture can be just like Clowe minus all of the fights and hits, but with a little more mobility. They're both pretty slow though.

Oh and Cogliano will thrive playing with Seto/Marleau imo. he would have a breakout season.

I'll throw in a first ('11) to it (Along with Murray) if you throw in Gilbert...

Oilers need d-men, they can't give up one of there top pairing guys. I like the original deal. Don't go changing it up too much.

I'm not sure Hall would be ready to play first line minutes just yet. I think Clowe may be better for 1st line LW.

I know, but the guy was asking for Murray and I was just saying how I could work that. I find the original deal more realistic also.

I hadn't noticed Cogliano in it, it makes much more sense that you would be interested in Murray than. Not sure that I'd give up Clowe and Murray for Cogliano and Souray. I love speedy players and their are few faster than Cogliano, but I'd be really nervous about losing Clowe's grit in the top 6. As for Souray, I think he could be a real asset to our blue-line, but at 5.4 million and with injury issues (meaning additional expenses to fill his spot with a IR replacement) could really put the hurt on our cap crunched team. I'd be very interested in him as a half-way pick-up though, depending on the price.

If Hall doesn't work on that line than swap him with Penner not Clowe.

Congratulations JP8. You have performed the rare HFB feat of making a trade proposal that is not immediately hated by fans of both teams, and that generally seems to address the needs of both teams.

You Sir, deserve a reward!!

Sign me up from the Washington side. Chimera is a great bottom 6 guy, but we have plenty of those and we don't have anyone like Murray on our roster.

You're 2 for 2, JPavs8Cluthcy.

Neither would I, but I dumped Mitchell and Huskins.

Are you sure we can't leave you with Souray as a top pairing guy and get Gilbert and Cogs instead?

We'll include Murray in the Edmonton deal and worry about trying to add Chimera or someone similar later.
