Can't see it. In hockey player economics, Pando hasn't really made that much money in his career. I think he'll get on the bus and collect his cash. Besides the issue of cap hit, I'd sooner see Lou demote him and pay the man.

According to the CBA, Pandolfo was not eligible to be waived because he is injured (recovering from surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder), but Lamoriello said he spoke to Pandolfo and he gave OK’d team placing him on waivers, so the injured-player rule did not apply.

Thanks for everything Jay, you were the man. I'm hoping he retires a Devil - like Madden, it would be really weird seeing him in another team's jersey.

Peters... Praise the lord.

TG seems to think he will be bought out. I certainly hope not.

And considering that Jay had to give his permission to be waived, it seems like Lou and he had "the Brylin talk" previously.

Full details on Pando/Peter's salaries here

Quote:
To buy out Pandolfo, the Devils would pay him two third of his remaining contract—$1,666,667. The cap hit of that would be spread out over two years (twice the remaining years on the contract). So, the Devils would have a cap hit of $833,333 for Pandolfo for the next two seasons if he is bought out.

“It certainly clears some (cap) space, but that wasn’t the intention,” Lamoriello said of placing Pandolfo on waivers.

Peters would be bought out at $333,333 and the cap hit for that also would be split over two years—$166,667 per season.

“With Jason Arnott coming our size and strength is there and also (Pierre-Luc Letourneau) Leblond has improved so much and we don’t want to take a spot on the roster away from a young player,” Lamoriello said in explaining the decison to waive/buy out Peters.

Awesome June for the Devils...hopefully July can match it.

I doubt it...he was underpaid for so long & probably hasn't made a ton (relatively speaking, of course) in his career that I'd be surprised if he passed up making $2.5M, even if he is riding a bus next year.

I can see Pando retiring, and getting a cushy high paying office job.

And as for Peters, what's the point of buying him out? Stuff in the A, or hell, assign him to Trenton. I don't see the purpose of the buy out. Does the organization really need to save the 250K or whatever salary it would be?

i think they should buy out peters and use that 250k savings to lower the price of beers at the rock by 25 cents each.

I think he might be bought out because there is no other reason to waive him today if they aren't going to buy him out.
