You will always be my hero for putting us on your back and "willing" us to win a Stanley Cup. You are the ultimate person and I couldn't be any prouder to have you as part of this franchise. Enjoy your retirement!
I still have my framed photo of him hoisting the Cup right next to my bed, where it's been for the past 3 years.
Rod, thank you for everything you have done for this organization. Even though the last few years were rough, not a single Canes fan is happy about this news. Good luck in whatever you pursue next
Coming not as a Canes fan, obviously, but as a hockey fan, Brindy was always one of my favorite players. I grew up in Charlotte, and it was definitely nice to see him get his cup with the local team.
Thank you so much Rod for showing the hockey world what a man who loves the game truly acts. I will probably wear my Brind'Amour jersey two more times, tomorrow and at his jersey retirement ceremony.
I was at that game. One of my top 2 regular season games I've ever been to.
Yeah, that game was ridiculous. Despite being completely out of the playoffs, the crowd was electric. Mostly because our history against Florida at that time was pretty good, especially when we were down two or three goals.
That game though: To have a comeback like that, on the last game of the season, and have the captain score the overtime winner with seconds left? Unbelievable. Especially considering I believe Grahame stopped a penalty shot in OT just a minute or two before.
