Deal is not done yet, stress that, but Paul Martin eager to sign in PIT and PIT eager to sign him. Working towards that. Stay tuned. less than 10 seconds ago via web

Trade rumor board has Phoenix offering Michalek a 6-year deal for 18-21 million. We won't beat that...

I think that's a pretty low offer for him. He'll probably be getting around 3.5-4.5 mil per.

Worse yet, at that age if he suffers a career-ending injury next season Ottawa will still end up taking the cap hit for all three years, if I'm recalling the CBA rules right.

I think you're correct. It's the 35+ rule.

Can someone post a link to the twitter accounts of all these sources? TSN isn't getting half of these that have been posted, and I can't find a decent source to follow UFA action on.

Yes, you are absolutely correct. I read on TSN that's basically why Pitt didn't resign him - they wanted a 2 year deal & Gonch wanted 3. Amazing that he would leave Pitt, who is now competing for the Cup every year, for Ottawa over 1 year. Wow, it really shows his priority: $$$.

No problem. Those are pretty good. You'll get a majority of the transactions plus they're all reliable.

There goes my dream team...I was hoping after Chicago acquired Stalberg from Toronto last night they'd also get Tim Thomas from the Bruins, Torrey Mitchell from the Sharks, and Marty St. Louis from Tampa and maybe even Graham Mink from us to put up a major Vermont Catamount contingent

Then again, they traded Joe Fallon to the Blues, so I guess they're already undermining that idea

It's only been 1 hour and 9 minutes. Plenty of teams haven't made a move yet.

That's a 5.625M cap hit then. Since he's 35 now, are they on the hook for all 4 years?

I know St. Louis is a good player, but they won't be in a good situation when Stamkos and Hedman are due raises with Lecavalier's and now St. Louis' hefty contracts still on the books

I'd like to see the Panthers sign Hamhuis to a reasonable contract for around 5 or 6 years.
