he better not shell out 4-5M for Turco. I expect him to offer 2.5M to 3M though.

I'd put dollars to donuts that DW is going to piss us off with a turco signing. i would not be surprised at all if nabby got a comparable or even cheaper contract than what we will give turco.

better numbers than lehtonen on the same team but i am still against turco in SJ. would prefer greiss & stalock. if DW feels he has to get a vet, roughly in order i'd take mason, ellis, biron/nitty ahead of turco.

much harder to get good stats when you only spot start 10 games in a season.

Lehtonen is younger and cheaper, that's the main reason.

not necessarily true. yann danis' stats were better than brodeur's in 12GP. it is flukier to play so few games... but i'm not arguing for turco (quite the opposite). just saying that he wasn't as terrible as some say, at least by the numbers.

of course lehtonen is younger, but i don't know if he's cheaper than turco going forward. if turco signs for over 3.55/yr here i'm going to lose it.

If Doug follows the normal Doug strategy of FA. NOTHING on day 1. Let's see if we have a new and improved DW. Can he make a move to get us better or make a move to just make a move.

He will sign a third-pairing D-Man for second-pairing money. Again. Because you really can't have enough 5/6/7 defensemen.

Doug already signed a bottom pair Dman to top 4 money. The man's name is Nic Wallin.

No, he means DW will sign another 7th dman for 3milish. DW will then talk about how important depth is, and how scuderi types win championships. Honestly DW has no ****ing clue how to make a defense, so I'm hoping he blows his cap space on Kovy instead so he can't **** our defense anymore.

I meant "again" as in "aside from Nic Wallin."

Thornton locked up for 3 more years will probably be the first move probably early next week.

Making a move tomorrow will depend if Seto gets an offer sheet or not.

If he does get one sub 4.5m i think DW would have to match it which would likely trigger a trade of Clowe, Murray or Seto in order to clear space

i'd be surprised if he did anything major tomorrow. he's stated he won't over pay for a UFA. my guess he'll wait a few weeks when he has more bargaining leverage then get a goalie and maybe a D if the price is right. His policy is the best action is no action.

Just remember, he talks to all GMs about many players, all the time. So he'll be rumored to be in allot of deals. If any thing happens it should be for a fair price for a player that wanted to play within the team cap and have a run at the cup - stated another way they turned down more money to play the the sharks.

Don't have a clue what DW will do, but Sharks need top 4 D without a doubt, and it better be someone that can skate. Need more wheels in back.

So you think Wilson might hold out on signing a goalie till late July?

when broduer won it most recently it should have been nabby winning it.

DW probably wont do much. If he does anything it will be a depth defenseman because the only way you pay Wallin 2.5 is if you want him to be in your top 6.

Boyle-Murray
Demers-Huskins
Wallin-Vlasic

Personally, I'd like to see us make a move for Willie Mitchell, but I doubt DW does anything

This has all the makings of doing nothing. We have a team that could be iced now and have limited dollars with Seto out there still, so there is no need to go hard into the market unless he pulls a big trade. He can let the attractive UFA defensemen settle out and get their big contracts, and go after Kaberle if the price is right when teams get what they want, pull someone else in a trade, or go after someone toward the bottom of the UFA D list on day 2 or 3. I suspect the Sharks faithful will be disappointed.

Has DW ever made a splash on 7/1? Correct me if I am wrong but the biggest piece of Sharks news we've had on 7/1 in the DW era was the year before JT was to be a free agent he got an extension on 7/1. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if tomorrow goes the same way: Sharks don't sign anybody they could use, but do get JT signed for an extension tomorrow and DW makes a big deal out of it in the media.

Just wait, we'll get history repeated (I'm calling it):

DW will sign a darkhorse, an unexpected defenseman for a high price, then he'll bring back Toskala and sign a bottom 6 forward, he'll then deal Setoguchi for Kaberle or another defenseman and call the offseason finished.
(Don't want this to happen but he probably will if he does something)

Or Plan B: He does nothing for the first few days to piss us off, (Probably will happen)

Very....exciting..
