I'm betting Gonchar's play drops off big time before that contract expires. All those Sens fans loving the signing now are going to be disappointed.

He does, but worst case scenario makes him a trade chip at the deadline.

Z Michalek, 5 years, $20M with Pens.

He and Gonchar are reasons i'm half glad JR doesn't get into these bidding wars.

The Michalek deal was good for the Canes IMO. It will help keep the next Gleason deal reasonable. I was worried someone would give Michalek alot more than 4 mil per season.

Did JR give some of his Picard/Carson savings to Anton to get him into camp happy at 1.4? or was he always planning on that number for Anton?

Considering Babchuk made 1.5 million last year in Omsk, I doubt Rutherford could have gone much lower.

TSN just said 3 teams are in on Whitney with 1 offer on the table that isn't good enough. Whitney is reportedly looking for at least 2 years, 3.5 million per year.

I think most were figuring around $1-1.5M for Babchuk, so that's probably the number JR had planned already. From my understanding, the deal was done last week, they just couldn't officially sign him until today. So I don't think the Carson/Picard not signing has anything to do with what he got.

yeah that ticks me off. honestly, I think we could have swung that. and now I see chip saying that JR has talked with Corvo's agent today. Assuming we bring him back, if we sign him for anywhere near 3 mil, ill be pissed if we could have had Lydman for the same.

If we resign Corvo it wont be the 3 year term Lydman got. so even if it is similar monetarily it wont be equal in term
