Biron Signs with Rangers for under 1 million

Would he have been the ideal backup for the price?

Knew there was no way he'd sign with anyteam at 1.5 mill or more.. Great deal for Rangers.

I wouldn't take Biron in Montreal. People will be calling for Price's head because of the French backup more than they are right now. We want to to Price in a situation where he can succeed.

Eliminates the controversy if he was in Montreal backing up Price.

Would have been perfect for us. Under 1M, great back up, can pick up the slack if needed, has had some success in the playoffs. Missed opportunity, there isn't much else out there.

Yep. Great contract but ehnn I'd avoid any potential controversy if I want Price to find any kind of mental stability.

I guess he didn't want to play in Montreal.

Down to Hedberg or Lalime.

Okay so that's why Patrick Lalime SPECIFICALLY said that he wanted to come over?

It shows that Ellis was overtpriced at 2 mil for 2 years. 1.3-1.5 is a lot more realistic.

Just wondering....why do we think that Biron was not interested? Possible that Gauthier was not interested?

I doubt Biron is like "Oh I'm not interested" I think it was a collection of things.

A) Maybe PG never even called him.
B) The fact that he probably has a home in Long Island since he played with NYI.. and its easier for him to move around.

Anyone watching the TSN feed?

McGuire just pulled another creepy moment... He is standing like 2" away from Gion Reda...

He took a 600.000$ paycut really.. well It's not CHEAP.. He just knows that's what he'd get on the market.. and I'm really starting to think it's due to the fact He wants to play near his home in long island.. if he has one.

Montreal probably sits and waits to see who is available after a couple are signed and see the asking price too. If nothing good is left on the UFA market, they will probably trade.
