Do you guys ever look at it from a player POV and not yours?

What if Ellis didn't want to sign here since he wanted a shot at the #1 spot?
What if Biron didn't want to deal with the constant media? What if Gauthier didn't want Biron?

why cause they did everything we should have?
Get Yzerman as a GM (remember he was upset mtl didnt contact him), sign Boucher (we should of brought him up instead of losing him).
We just went to the conference finals, they were one of the worst teams in the league.

Only on HF!

This makes no sense...

Gauthier must want to save money for another player... Moore? Frolov?

I assumed the SK trade would backfire. I also assume Price will stutter next year again. Here's to hoping the Halak trade doesn't backfire.

trade away SK for essentially nothing

Our lack of size was exposed in the SCF that we only got to cause of Halak and theres no evidence that anything will be done about that....

sigh
Auld is 6'4 230 pounds !

was yzerman the gm that made them the worst team?
and we traded like 70% of the reason we even made it to the SCF...

lets not kid ourselves here...

To everyone freaking out. Sometimes players actually don't want to sign in certain cities. Don't you think Biron wanted to stay in the greater New York area. Ellis will get more games in Tampa, more money in Tampa and less taxes there as well + the sunshine for 2 years as a close to back up goalie. I know where I would signed even if Montreal offered me 2 mill a year.

There you have it, Ellis just said on TSN that he didn't want to be in the same situation he was in in Nashville, behind a young up and coming goalie

What has Yzerman won in the NHL so far as a GM? What has Boucher won in the NHL so far?

Jesus Christ get a grip. This board is the epitome of the grass always being greener on the other side.

Wow, goalies are getting shafted this year with contracts. Any goalie that got greedy at the start of FA is not going to have a job.

Well this reassures me greatly, you know with all the success JM had in Florida as GM and all.

Ellis said on TSN that him and the Habs couldn't come to an agreement on the numbers, and he was unsure about being in another Nashville-type situation (stuck behind an up-and-coming young goalie).

That's that. Was an interesting few days, Ellis seemed cool, too bad it didn't work out.

Same for me.
We just gave Sergei K.

What is next, losing Price for a pick?

Sergei was fkn useless and a cancer. don't be sad for his departure lol.

we're prolly getting a 5th overall for him, and maybe Dustin Boyd.

I'm going to give PG the benifit of the doubt, and assume that Ellis wanted 2M or more to play here given the role situation an d taxes.

But on the surface it looks bad
trade an asset for nothing
sign a lesser player for a marginal discount

not much to like about the big picture, even if I
fine with auld

Bah, who cares what Ellis signed for in Tampa. He wasn't a good fit here.

I always wondered why the Habs made that move to get him. The guy didn't want to be second banana.

fact of the matter is Ellis was a big tease in this situation, when mtl didn't even make sense for him.

They only wanted to get rid of Sergei. Which is good.

This is what I wrote a few days ago:

Now do you guys really believe that he will want to back up Carey Price for under 2 millions/year ?!

If I were him, why not wait a few more hours and see what the market can offer me ?! There's 2-3 teams that will be looking for a potential #1 goalie like the Flyers, the Sharks, the Lightning, etc... He could probably signs a 2-3 years deal for 2-2.5/year.

Sorry to burst your balloons guys, but Ellis is already gone, before he even has the chance to play a single game with this team !!

Yes, yes... I was right once again, regarding Ellis not signing with the Habs !!

That's not what he seems to think. Not every single player in the NHL are prima-donnas, such as your lil' favorite. By the way, aren't you on Nashville's boards just yet?

Cam A Larry, I'm looking at you !! And guess what, yes Ellis was looking for a #1 spot after all, which he got by signing with Tampa Bay. You owe me some apologies, sir

Let's just say that there are more prima-donnas in this world than you think

The Sergei trade is looking worst now.

Let's watch Dustin Boyd signing somewhere else now...
