not really much to put us in CAP troubles for next year, but it is interesting to see.

So that brings our current available cap space down to less than 2 million.

Bieksa definitely needs to go.

It was probably for Schneider's games played bonuses.

It was bound to happen given all the LTIR stuff we dealt with. $90,000 isn't much when you look at the Top 5 teams.

Don't think he played enough games?

Anyways, this 90K could've supplied us a cheap injury callup's salary for about 25 days on the roster.

It's painfully obvious that Bieksa's 3.75M has to go for us to give Raymond his raise and grab another bottom 6 forward.

Who do we trade away first to make cap space?
Henrik Sedin or Daniel Sedin?

Of course Henrik first. He just won the Hart. Assuming he wins the Hart four more times before his contract expires, can you imagine how much money he's going to command? 15 million a season? 20 million? At least Daniel doesn't have any major hardware, so we can play hardball with him, 12 million

If I understand the rules correctly, this means we have to trade all our role players to the Thrashers for draft picks.

Somewhat misleading. It is not a penalty - it is an allowable cap overage (aka bonus cushion) for 2009-10 that is being transferred to 2010-11 pursuant to the CBA.

A penalty generally means something such as a fine, not this situation.

Not only do the Hawks lose players on account of that 4 million carryover but the Sharks have 330k less to spend. At 90k, the Canucks still come out ahead.

Another $4.1 mil off Chicago's salary?

Yeeesh.

Even if they dump Huet they still only have $8 mil or so to sign 7 guys.

Blow it all up, Sedins, Kesler, Ehrhoff, Edler for picks and prospects. Bury Luongo in the minors.

$90k is pocket change in the cap world. It's great to see Chicago so high. Maybe winning the West will be a definite possibility next season

Well it's not like we were going to have under 90k in cap space.
