Where is that guy who insisted a few days ago that "Danny" had no interest whatsoever in playing for the Canucks because he didn't want to deal with all the crazy/obsessed fans?

Yeah, we lost Bieksa's toughness about 3 years ago, it's a little late to be worrying about that now.

Bieksa isn't tough, he's stupid and reckless.

Man, our D-core looks pretty damn good with:

Edler Ehrhoff
Ballard Hamhuis
Salo SOB
Rome

GTFO Bieksa and Hordisuck.

Hamhuis, Ballard, Oreskovich make up for it.

I still think Burke has interest. Bieksa and Burke have a history and Burke likes tough gritty players. They're likely to lose Kaberle and waive Finger so will need to add a D-man.

Jokinen's agent says Sutter called soon after free agency opened. Sutter also spoke to Jokinen and told Olli he shouldn't have traded him.

What an absurd day.

From a Canucks POV, I couldn't have asked for a better day. This has to be the best FA that I can remember for us. We usually get our hopes up really high but then are left to pick up the scraps a few days later but not with MG.

I know Hamhuis is not going to be the saviour of the team but it's so very satisfying to lately being able to sign or resign players here in Vancouver after years of watching some marketable and desirable players decline or leave town.

rights traded twice in a week, didn't sign with either team. i think it's going to turn out that this was OTM.

So there is no NTC? Odd that Malhotra gets one and Hamhuis doesn't.

Sutter sounds more like a sobbing drunk chick on a really sappy soap opera. The big shocker: Sutter's preggers.... and it's Olli's!

SO not only did Sutter re-sign Jokinen, he groveled to do so...

Over/under until Hamhuis becomes the new whipping boy? 30 months?
He's the new FA aquisition, highest paid D-man, pretty underwhelming stats.
I am obviously in the minority with everyone wetting themselves over this signing, but I am not excited about DH. Maybe he will grow on me.

I think that people are mistaking our feelings for this signing for us believing he is amazing. I just think that everyone, including myself, is happy over this because it is one hell of an upgrade over Bieksa.

If he doesn't cost us games like Bieksa does, then it doesn't matter.

Wow.
You add in a mixture of Salo, Rome, SOB (potentially), and one of the young-uns and that is one of the top five or six groups in the league. There is no No.1 stud (though Ehrhoff put up close to those type of numbers in both ends of rink), but if you have luxury of having Salo as a fifth D assuming he doesn't injure himself tying up his skates or opening the Gatorade cap, you have a group that will be tough to play against.

Pretty easy to say Vancouver has upgraded themselves as much, or more, than any team in the West since the season ended in terms of "right now" talent. Not a bad accomplishment when it is only July 1st. Not too bad at all.
