but IF there is a NFL lockout in 2011 then ESPN will have no choice but to take the NHL or they will lose millions of dollars

Might want to read up on it some more....

I'd put it at about 90%.

Of every interview I've heard on ESPN radio (clayton, players rep, jaws, etc), "it doesn't look good" is the best response thus far.

The owners control the NFL, if they think it needs to be locked out it will happen.

The NFL's most pressing need is an ELC for rookies. Number 1 overall picks make record rookie money every year. Another JaMarcus Russsel can single handedly ruin a franchise.

Why? They'll just go 200% into college football. The NFL is on ESPN one night a week.

late in on this one

you guys got a real quality player in A-Train. Easily one of the best hitters, shotblockers and shutdown Dmen playing the game today.

These days effort is such a problem for so many players, with Volchenkov, he is going to play as hard as possible every shift.
Even if your winning 4-1, he will still be diving infront of pucks.

He will be missed greatly in Ottawa. Going to be framing his jersey.

That was gonna be my response.

ESPN wouldn't be desperate enough to take on hockey if they lost MNF for a year.

Yeah we're really excited about him - although some of the buzz has been lost thanks to the Kovalchuk circus. I'm really looking forward to his blocks and hits energizing the forwards too.

I'm happy we finally have a defenceman with some snarl to him again. Salvador and White weren't cutting it. Bringing up Corrente will help too, but Volchenkov is a guy who can clear the crease for Marty.

Volchenkov is the first d-man we've had on this team since Nieds that we'll be able to throw out onto the ice while up 1 with under a minute to go that won't give me heart palpitations. One more season without him, and it might have been the end for ol' Vilgrain Headache...

Don't forget, there's not enough Lebronmania going around if you ask ESPN.

Damn Volch hits like a tank.

Look at this on on Carcillo. Haha watch the whole vid to see how fast and hard he hits him and then Carcillo tries to be a tough guy and stares him down.

Some others:

Hip check on Hedman

Destroys Tavares, Stalberg, and Cammalleri

And also nails Tucker (hope that's Avery this year)

There are actually several on Tucker haha

There are plenty more.

I gotta say I really love the etymology of his name, too. Basically all russian names mean something, but his is pretty appropriate. It comes from the word "volk" - the wolf. I really like that.

If there is a NFL lockout and the NBA seems "certainly headed for one" (at the time, of course, not right now), the NHL and NHLPA would be downright stupid to enter a lockout/strike at the same time.

Maybe they could actually agree to what I have done the past year and maybe into the next: work on the expired contract while hammering out a new deal.

There is no reason why this can't be done. You can't EXPECT fans to sit through their 3rd lockout in not even 20 years. The NHL got very lucky with the likes of Crosby, Ovechkin, Malkin and others entering the league and putting on a show immediately.

While it may not be beneficial for either side to work with the expired CBA, it may be more beneficial to work with the expired CBA. (Get it?)

Im so hyped to see Volchenkov in action this season. I just hope he brings the "spice" we lacked last season into our game.
