I think the only skill component we lack is on the back end.

It depends on if they trust him to not suck like Niskanen.

That reminds me--when is Nieuwendyk going to filter out our pack of bottom-pairing defensemen with a trade or waivers?

Not in a good way? Oh so you don't remember that a couple months into the season after those signings Armstrong was canned?

I really dont see the point in getting this guy to be honest. The stars need to go after a Defensemen maybe try trading for kaberle since most of the good FA ones are gone. Burish seems like a high energy player but we already have a few of those but idk hopefully Joe knows what he is doing.

"I've always liked Adam Burish," said Stars GM Joe Nieuwendyk. "There are guys in this league you notice because they are not fun to play against. Adam Burish is one of those guys. One of things I like about him is he able to take faceoffs, he can play center or wing, he's a right hand shot and he has real good speed. ... I think he'll help push the pace in our bottom grouping and he has the ability to play up the lineup."

Sure he can take faceoffs, but Burish has a awful faceoff winning percentage at 41.4%.

It's the stuff they pump into the chicken nowadays. When I was a preteen girls my age didn't have boobs, now they have em when they pop outta the womb, it's ridiculous.

I thought that was called 'breast enhancement surgery,' not chicken stuffing. Hey, I'm always up for learning something new.

Nope, they don't let the sick chickens die anymore, they pump em full of antibiotics. That's what does it.....either that or aliens.

(Glad we've gotten away from the Kaberle in this thread )

Well, I started reading this thread bottom to top and I have to say this is not the conversation I was expecting in a confirmed signing thread. Anyway, I look forward to reading on...

Anyone see a future Stu Barnes type with this guy? Maybe just me, but I don't mind what Joe has done in terms of character and grit in the bottom of the roster considering some of what was lost in after the 2008 run. I just question the timing considering we're broke. Nother question, anyone understand how we sign Neal and the RFA's and get a better D core? The only answer I've got is the internal budget hoax theory put forth by Glovesave.

I assume you mean the version of Barnes we saw at the end of his career? Because Barnes had 273 points by the time he was Burish's age.

If you mean a Barnes that can't win faceoffs either (41.4%) yet Nieuwendyk sees that as a positive.

I'm surprised, so more than likely alone in this comparison.

I found Barnes' value to be in his PK, character, role, presence etc. in Dallas, so I guess my point was Burish could contribute some of the intangibles that the veteran Stu Barnes did.

Burish wasn't going to get a significant role on CHI, so we'll see if he can contribute a little more offensively too.

I'm surprised Burish got that much coming off a year where he had his second major knee surgery. I love Burish, and it is the first Hawks jersey I got because I like the guy's heart and energy, but I didn't expect this.

Though my favorite Burish moment is still Burish to one of the Sedins:

"Your brother is ugly."

He'll make you laugh, and I think he does have 3rd line potential and good speed, but knee surgery is no joke.

JFC, you guys giving up on Bur already, eh??

Give him a chance! Yes he was a 4th liner.....on a Stanley Cup winning team. He'll probably be on the 3rd line on the stars. Keep an open mind; don't pre-judge. You will love this guy's personality and energy. (If you're nice, maybe he'll bring down some Wisconsin Cheese for y'all to enjoy.)

I'll check back with you in December. If I have to eat crow, a side order of bacon with that please.

We're not poo pooing the player so much as the redundancy of his type on the roster, and the dollar amount for a cash-strapped team.
