Who gets moved??

theres a lot of speculation that we will be shedding some salary, given the recent signings/trades

so the question is....who goes??

Carcillo will be moved, and Powe will be re-signed dirt cheap. We will run 13 forwards, 6 defensemen, and 2 goalies. Bartulis will go back to the AHL. Nodl or Maroon will be our final top-9 forward. Briere is going back to wing.

That's my guess.

I could see Carle, but I don't feel comfortable with O'Donnell and Bartulis on the same line.

Maybe Carter gets moved in some sort of attempt by Homer to get prospects/picks/3rd liners/more facepalms by HFers.

It's already been made official.

We are Richards, Carter, and Giroux down the middle. Briere goes back to wing somewhere, and everyone else falls in line.

Carter won't be moved.

I don't see Harts or Briere waiving the NTCs, I don't think Kimmo is going anywhere, Gagne I guess is a possibility but would Homer trade him?

Why do people still think one of our bigger contracts will be traded?

IMO it'll be Carle or Hartnell, Carcillo is another possibility.

I don't necessarily. I'm just speaking about the contracts that would be moved to give substantial cap relief. Who did you have in mind?

EDIT: Nevermind, I misread your post.

I think Nodl is quite capable.

Don't forget Gagne has a NTC, too. I don't see him being dealt.

If we really are done and there is no deal possibly involving Carle and Boucher like many of us have predicted, I posted a team that could work under the cap in the lineup thread:

Gagne Richards Giroux
Hartnell Briere Leino
JvR Carter Maroon
Shelley Betts Laperriere
Powe (700k)

Carle Pronger
Coburn Timonen
Meszaros O'Donnell
Bartulis

Leighton
Backlund

Now if we get rid of Bartulis or Powe, we'd have enough money to use Boucher as the backup or someone other than Maroon as the top 9 forward. Do you guys think Backlund would be able to handle the backup duties better than Boucher?

The Flyers have operated on shoe-string cap space since the lockout. I don't know why people honestly think this will be different.

I voted Hartnell, though I'm very much hoping for Carle. The Ottawa version of Meszaros can take his place, and O'Donnell upgrades defensively over Krajicek.

It's anyone's guess, however, what exactly is running through Paul Holmgren's mind right now. He's probably been muttering "Gotta trade Hartnell, gotta trade Hartnell, gotta trade Hartnell, ..." ever since he used Hartnell as Exhibit A for dealing players with NTC/NMCs. In the backroom drinking game they are probably playing right now, who knows if Carter's name came up when it was Luukko's turn to spin the Big Wheel of Roster Changes.

I think the next professional sports team I decide to back, I'll opt for the Rhodes-scholar GM, and not the punched-dumb ADHD type.

By the way, is there anyone else in the NHL to whom Holmgren feels obligated? A player who bought him a meal a decade ago, the son of a fellow teammate who got him home safely after a bender, or his ex-paperboy who's now a Grade 3.5 G on the HF prospects chart? It's like the hockey version of "My Name is Earl".

Why are people suggesting Powe and Carcillo will be traded? They aren't on the team at the moment and they won't be signed just to be traded.

Would Homer bring in 4 mill Meszaros just to move a cheaper, higher valued Matty Carle. My gut tells me this is the blue-line we roll with.

I believe that Homer likes this team. I feel he's got a hunch on either Leighton or Backlund being their guy and that he's willing to enter the season like this to see if he's right. If he's wrong, Carter will be one of the hottest deadline tickets available and we'll get our goalie then.

I'm willing to move Carter/Gagne but I don't want to regret it if Backlund ends up being our guy after all.

i don't want to move anybody for a goalie either but looks like I'm **** outta luck after today's events. Somehow I don't think Backlunds our guy.

And I'm not sure Backlund is our guy but I believe very much in Homer, and I believe a lot of guys can be our goalie if this is to be our blueline.
