either your information is faulty or doug wilson is going insane

im inclined to believe the former

check your facts again
Our facts have been checked. Really. MacIntyre's qualifying offer would have been for $945,000, so the Sharks probably wanted to save on that cap hit and "convinced" MacIntyre to take a lower salary in exchange for a one-way deal.

At least it wasn't a 2.5 million dollar deal for two years.

???

Do you not realize that he's never played a professional game in his life?

How do you sign a deal in april and then sign another in june? Please explain that to me

Stop being so hard nosed. It's been explained multiple times. He's rather old. So his ELC can only be 1 year long. He signed it towards the end of last year for 2009-2010 and didn't play in any games so he could rehab from injuries. He now has signed a two year extension. When he was signed, someone mentioned that he was pretty much NHL ready in terms of ability, and just needed to get healthy. That's probably why he got the one-way contract.

Capgeek has never steered us wrong, how about the benefit of the doubt eh?

The time and effort that must be put into that site to keep it as accurate as it is should be commended.

I don't see how that matters. ELC contracts only don't age if the player isn't on a pro roster. MacIntyre, even though he never saw the ice, was on both the Worcester and San Jose rosters last season from April until the Sharks were knocked out.

a "1 year contract" doesn't run from the day it is signed until 365 days later. It goes from the date it was signed until the subsequent July 1. And he could only sign a 1 year deal because it was his first contract and he was counted as 24 years old under the CBA rules at that time. He couldn't have added extra years even if he and the team wanted them.

The timeline:

April 5/10 - MacIntyre signs a "1 year" contract at $900k for the remainder of the 09/10 season. At this point the Sharks still had 3 games on the schedule. Thus the pro-rated amount actually paid to him was likely only a few thousand dollars. But like all other contracts that were for 09/10 year, it will expire/age on July 1.

June 27 - MacIntyre signs an extension for the 10/11 and 11/12 seasons at $600k. This kicks in on July 1/10 when the previous one expires.

July 1/10 - the 900k contract expires and the 600k contract begins.

There, done.

Thanks Nem

Re: Macintyre
I actually really like the signing. Sure it costs the owners $600k for two-years, guaranteed. And it also costs a $600k cap hit, but I'm more than willing to live with that for the potential that we got another Clowe in the system. Since DW has been trading draft picks to win NOW, he's been forced to sign a lot of college and undrafted FA's to make up for our lack of picks. It's a more expensive route than drafting a kid, but it's also a great way to bring in youth without giving up any assets. The Matt Jones signing a 2/3 years ago didn't pan out but hopefully Macintyre will. The fact is that there were a lot of teams trying to sign him toward the end of last season, and I'm sure more than a couple were willing to offer 1-way contracts. He was projected to be perhaps the top college free agent signing "if he can stay healthy" so I think that is a big win for the Sharks. Again, it's only costing the team $600k in cap space for the gamble.

and if I had to guess, I would say the new deal is not an ELC deal. He signed his original deal on April 5 of this year. According to the CBA signing your ELC at 24 years old (Oct 85 birthday. CBA age calculations use the player's age as of Sept 15 of ths year of signing) means that the ELC contract is automatically a 1 year deal. That deal would've been the one that ran April-July, meaning that the new deal that kicks in on July 1 is no longer ELC.

I think.

FWIW this deal has been in the works for a while though. The Worcester guys said that MacIntyre had a new deal lined up for this season way back before the off-season.
Which makes sense. DW & MacIntyre came to an agreement to effectively burn off his required 1 yr two-way ELS deal so that he could sign a one way deal.

Dougie W said on KNBR today that he'll be "real surprised" if this kid doesnt make the team. I assume 4th line role with Scotty.

Dougie said Cam dominated when he was playing. Numbers somewhat prove it. I believe in Burkie and our scouts.

i guess if a best of 3rd in scoring on a team that gets blown out in the first round of the NCAA tourney is dominating...

virtually every team's top 3 forwards score around, if not over, PPG in college. we'll have to trust the scouts on their assessment of his actual play because the numbers are even more worthless than usual in the case of weak leagues

Didn't see him dominate in the video. Saw a lot of Stalock giving bad angles and slow reaction. Not sure I can see much in these feeds. But apparently this is our 4th line: McLaren-Nichol-MacIntyre

I can live with that 4th line, McLaren can fight and has a chance of being a offensive threat as well, nichol being nichol, and MacIntyre showing some hustle
