I'm sure the Boutique will allow for something to be done.
I loved Koivu but 11 is just a number.. I liked 91 on Gomez too.. but I don't know.. it's good to see jersey 11 back.

Like some said before, I wish the HAbs didn't retire so many damn jerseys.. I'm not a huge fan of high jersey #s.. I wouldn't have a problem with honoring numbers.

Cammalleri (13) - Gomez (11) - Gionta (21)
Tanguay (13) - Koivu (11) - Higgins (21)

very original

its just unfair for Gomez fans that have his 91 jersey...maybe the boutique will change de 9 for a 1 for free..who knows

Does this mean all numbers are up for grabs now?

If so, Pouliot should jump at #17. I think that would look great on him.

#17 is just so badass.

LAraque had a long and great career with MTL, don't know if we can have another player use his number. =-o

#17 is Laraque's and Benoit Brunet's former number ... I don't want anyone else near that number again.

Fine, then give him #27. I can't think of anyone important wearing that number here.

But then he's gonna be injured all year.

I've got Ryder/Koivu and even Tanguay t-shirts.. 30 bucks each.. 90 bucks all together. NOT COMPLAINING EITHER >

Tanguay.. what a waste of money on my part. I liked him so much before MTL.. but I Shouldn't have gotten his t-shirt.

If that was his boyhood dream, to wear number 11, then there is no better setting than to wear it in Mtl! I'm happy for Gomez! It will never take away or erase what Saku has done for Mtl, hockey related and non-hockey related.

Why is Koivu regarded as some sort of god around here?

He was a great guy, did a lot for Montreal off the ice.

On the ice was a different story. He couldn't lead this team anywhere. He gave it his all, but it wasn't enough.

There was no chance in hell #11 was going up to the rafters, so why not let Gomez, the teams current #1 center, whatever number he wants?

No problem with him taking #11, but I always liked #91. I'm a fan of numbers in the 90's, no idea why.

There is no number, excluding the ones up there in the rafter, that should be out of service.

Looking forward to see a new number 8, 11, 15, 17, 22, 24, 25, 27, 28 and 30. I like those classic jersey numbers.

Great observation, I never even thought about that.

Maybe because of a guy named Gretzky?

Some good players wore the 90's, Gretzky, Gilmour, Fedorov to name a few.

Sure it's odd, but it's not like he's demanding that the #9 be unretired or anything.

I'm as big a Koivu fan as the next guy, and appreciate everything he's done for the team, the fans, and the city of Montreal. However, his era here is over. I think his new deal in Anaheim ensures that he will never be in a Habs jersey again.

Sweeet, I've always liked #11 for some reason. Ryan Walter, Muller, and Koivu were my favourite players when they played for the Habs.

I certainly don't have a problem with Gomez taking it now.

I'm still waiting for someone to pick #69. A superstar generational player would be awesome (66, 99... And now 69)
