Kubina forget Bieska, Kubina is a top pairing, right handed, offensive capable defender.

For arguments sake:

Murray 625,000 last year of contract; Bieksa 3,750,000 last year; payroll added next season 3,125,000.

Commodore 3,750,000 with 3 more years on contract, also NTC; Souray 5,400,000, with 2 years left, payroll added next season 1,650,000.

So thats 4,775,000 added to this season's payroll. There would need to be some contract dumping by Howson to stay under the mid level for freebies er revenue sharing. Unlikely that both of those dmen would be traded for, one or the other most likely.

If I had to choose one or the other, I'd take the Bieksa trade over the Souray trade.

I asked this the other day but no one replied, but I think Commie's NTC expired today. We'd have to dump salary. Clark would help, but if Edmonton wanted Clark, wouldn't we have just traded Commie + Clark for Moreau and Souray?

Apparently you haven't been paying attention to the recent lengthy discussion about why the CBJ are not diving into the deep end of the UFA pool. Pavel Kubina is a UFA. This explains why the Jackets won't be signing him. Please read it carefully.

We've learned in the past that Howson doesn't tell the Dispatch what he's doing.

Remember that one time ************* told us that the Jackets acquired Jason Spezza?

Very true. He cited me as a source on that rumor You can look at his tweets today and decide for yourself if he's got real sources.

Just thought it was relevant and it's consistent with the things I'm hearing.

Jan Hejda is better than Bieksa right now, easy. Klesla probably is too.

Bieksa has a mean streak but he doesn't use it anymore. He can score 40 points in a good year, but he's also responsible for 50 the other way. The guy is careless and lazy and makes a ton of stupid mistakes.

I kinda feel bad for Blue Jacket fans getting excited about him. There is a solid reason we're getting rid of the guy.

Something isn't adding up. Gillis apparently specifically denied interest in trading Bieksa in the press. Could be posturing to get more or perhaps all these rumors are bogus.

Well all reports say that Howson isn't doing anything in free agency and we haven't heard of any interest from any sources in the league about Kubina. Where there is no smoke there is no fire.

I hope so. I know you guys watched the playoffs this year. There is a reason Vancouver wants to get rid of Bieska, it is because he is terrible and a liability in his own zone. He isn't good and he isn't an upgrade to anything we already have. Tyutin is a much better puck mover than Bieska is and I think we should want to think about getting someone as good or better than Tyutin.

You want someone physical, how about Alberts. He had like 20 PIMs in the first two games of the playoffs alone. And lots of PIMs equals physical, right......?

It's like a big mind control battle.

Here is a picture of Aaron Portzline:

Here is a picture of Scott Howson and Jason Chimera:

(actually, it kind of looks like Mr. Mac with the bald head come back from the dead to teach young Scottwalker. I'd photoshop it, but nah.)

LOL we can't trade them Juice for Bieksa. They're looking to shed salary by dealing Bieksa, not add it. I'd trade Rusty straight up for KB though. Saves Vancouver almost a million, and they're relatively close in value IMO.

But if it's just a total "dump Bieksa's money without any leaving" thing, I'd rather trade Commie for Souray. But honestly I'd just hope to go for Tom Gilbert.

Why do you like Tom Gilbert so much? I MUCH rather have Erhoff.
