Would you like to see Nichol with an A?

Now I was thinking, and I don't think Nichol is talented/skilled enough for the C. But he works hard night in and night out, always hustles to the puck and is truly a leader. Just my thoughts

Wouldn't be opposed, but I think there are other guys in front of him that should wear it (Pavs, Clowe, JT, Marleau, etc.)

You have made more threads in under 2 months than I have in 3 years.

Nichol doesn't need an A, Nichol needs to go out and be Nichol. Clowe would be a 'dark horse' pick for an A from the forwards.

I don't think Nichol is quite ready to wear the A but perhaps in a couple years he can.

I think we should have a leader for each line so they can get in sync. 1-4 Every line has to have the mindset that they are our top line.

In a couple of years? The man is old. He's 35 already.

He's 35 but I don't think he's made a big enough impact on the team yet to wear the C. Granted he'll probably retire soon but who's to say he can't wear the C when he's 37. Blake retired at age 40 and he wore the C for us just last year.

i'll go out on a limb and express doubt that nichol will be playing in the NHL in "a couple of years", let alone for SJ. i like the guy, but his impact on this team will most likely remain minimal albeit positive.

blake is a likely hall of famer. nichol is a stopgap between mitchell and someone from worcester like desjardins

really...

I mean come on....reallly?

Have Boyle as the 'C' throughout the year along with JT with an 'A'. And maybe rotate around the last 'A' between Nichol, Pavs, Marleau, and whoever else steps up.

Yea, there's way too many other players who have had a much more significant impact than Nichol on the Sharks that are much more likely to wear the C or A.

I'm personally excited to see Couture develop some more and have him wear the A in a few years if he continues to progress nicely. As for Nichol, I wouldn't be opposed to see him wearing an A, but I just don't see it happening.

Why do you think Nichol would be a better choice than Clowe?

Obviously, Clowe could be on the move this offseason, but he has worn the A before. I was just saying Clowe would have to be in the conversation so settle down there.

We all know that the letters will happen one of two ways. Jumbo with the C, Boyle and Marleau with A's or Boyle with the C, Jumbo and Marleau with the A's. Scooter, although you can't not love the man for what he does, isn't even in the same room when the conversation is happening.

no;

- he doesnt get enough ice time.
- he can be "nasty" to players at times and may not be the right person to have work with refs.
- he'll lose his face off mojo...

Clowe has worn the A before. I think he has better leadership than you are giving him credit for.

One A to Thornton for sure...and then pick between Pavs/Boyle for C and give the other one the other A...Marleau will wear the A if one if injured :-)

I think the Giants could use him. The A's are full up on reserve players.

Barring something major, Marleau will wear the 2nd A. The fact he consistently got the A when one of the three lettered guys were out is a pretty clear indicator of the peking order. I can only remember one time during last season where it wasn't the case.

He is probably the hardest worker on the team, and I see what you are saying about giving him an A to reward that. Unfortunately, I think he doesn't really "fit" as an alternate captain... He makes dirty plays sometimes, and while he is one of my 3 favorite sharks, I don't think the A fits.

Wouldn't be a major surprise to see Boyle, Thornton, Pavelski with letters. Marleau is in the mix and Clowe would be a distant 5th choice.
