If I were to get a BB, I would get one of the latest bolds. I really like the keyboard and touch screen combo.

Agreed, I am personally waiting for the BB10 ones to come out next year but if my current one got crushed or something and I needed to get a new one it would likely be one of those since I love my physical keyboard but the addition of the touch screen looks nice.

The Bold 9900/9930 is currently the best BlackBerry.
Personally I'd go with the 9900/9930 as it's more powerful and has a better keyboard.
Sorry meant prefer the look of the 9900. In the end it depends on how much you are willing to pay as I believe the newer 9900 is more expansive of course.

Yes the 9900 does cost more (it's more powerful) but the 9790 is actually a little newer.
I want to wait for the next-gen Blackberry since I am getting a 9700 for free. My new playbook will make any emailing or web browsing agreeable enough until the new phones are actually released.
Hey so my sis got a used 9700, what's worth getting in terms of apps (assuming one doesn't have a Data plan)
Also, why is it so buggy in connecting to app world with Wifi
Pretty much. This news of BB10 being delayed for practically a year, combined with the failures of the PlayBook (seriously, no native e-mail client at launch and it takes, what, nearly a year for the 2.0 update?) make for a dismal year. I tried to stay with BlackBerry but Android just offered too much and was giving me what I sought in a phone. Many have made the leap to Android or iPhone for those reasons.
RIM is in dangerous territory right now. If BB10 fails after this big wait, they're in mega-trouble. Big time. I'm surprised they're sticking it out with their co-CEOs. I know they've been through a lot of good, and this is some negative they're experiencing, but in this competitive market, you almost have to feel like maybe a change would be in their best interests to try and stoke up a positive fire. They need more good news than bad, because they can't afford to slip even more in the market.

Honestly I can't tell you. That's why I went to Android. There wasn't much I could do on my BlackBerry. Most of the fun apps you can get on Android aren't on the BB. I know it's not much help, and certainly doesn't reciprocate the help you've provided me on an Android, so I apologize.
As for the bugginess on WiFi I never had that issue with my 9860. That's weird.
Ya they sure look dead. Have they been having some issues? Yes of course and I think it is good that they are finally admitting it and showing how they plan on remedying the situation. To say RIM is "officially dead" is so short sighted, especially since they are still profitable. A lot of people just look at the share price and thing that the company is about to die but their current level is undervaluing the company due to speculation.
From yesterday's 3rd quarter release.
Revenue of $5.2 billion, up 24% from last quarter
BlackBerry smartphone shipments of 14.1 million, up 33% from Q2

million or $1.27 per share diluted
Subscribers up 35% year-over-year to almost 75 million
Cash flow from operations of approximately $895 million
Total of cash, cash equivalents, short-term and long-term investments of $1.5 billion

Balsillie said that he and his co-chief, Mike Lazaridis wanted to turn around impatience that has built among investors following several mis-steps:
We are in the process of completing the largest platform and organizational transition in the company’s history and while we have remained a solidly profitable — remain solidly profitable — and delivered significant unit volume during this transition, we recognize that our shareholders feel we have fallen short in terms of product execution, market share and financial performance. That being said, we continue to believe that our transition will better position us to deliver enhanced value to shareholders and enhance our leading position in the mobile space. It is important for you to know that Mike and I [...] understand investor sentiment [and] we are more committed than ever to addressing the issues at hand.
I love also how people say they are dead because they are going to push back the release of BB10 to make sure it is good instead of rushing it. Especially since these same people *****ed at how they rushed an unfinished product with the Playbook.

azaridis said the company’s need to get design right for the U.S. market, and to have chips for faster 4G/LTE cellular service would require a longer time frame to introduce the devices:
As I said on the last earnings call, we are focused on delivering a high quality, fully featured user experience when these products are launched. This means having a well-developed ecosystem of publications and services both in the hardware specifications, industrial design, and application features that will meet the expectations of consumers in the competitive US market. To achieve this goal, we need a highly integrated dual core LTE platform. The processor we selected offers industry-leading power and efficiency, and also allows us to deliver the industrial design that we believe is critical to the success in this market segment. This chipset will not be available until mid-2012, and as a result of this and certain other factors, we now expect our first BlackBerry 10 smartphones to reach markets in the latter part of calendar 2012.

Plus 0 Debt.
Financially they're in great shape. The stock price is definitely undervalued.
