to CBJ - Stana, 27th overall, 2nd round pick (I think 33rd overall)
to WSH - 4th overall

Personally, I'd pass on the last three proposals. The Buff/Van propsals, I think, are good value, but I wouldn't take them. I like Tallinder and Sopel, but neither are the young, physical d-man CBJ really need. The goalies are certainly good, but I have no desire to move the 4th overall to get a player who's going to play 25 games a year behind Denis.
I don't like the Washington proposal at all. Stana and a 2nd, to me, is not worth dropping all the way to the end of the 2nd round.

So far, I think the best offer came from Carolina:
4th overall for 8th overall, plus 2nd round, plus 3rd round

if I understood right.

I really suck at these so it might be way lopsided but I'll throw one out.

Semenov (huge young d-man with top 4 potential possibly top 2 with a 104MPH slapshot), Isbister (not a great year but spent most of it hurt I think he'll still rebound) and Philly's 1st.

so

Semenov, Isbister, 24th

for 4th?

Thoughts?

This one sounds good to me, too.

I like the players involved. I would love for Columbus to roll the dice with Isbister. I like Semenov a lot. But, I just don't think thats enough to drop from the top 5 to the mid 20s. Its probably a nasty side effect of posting in a prospects-centered forum.

I still like the Carolina offer the best. I'd rather take that, then ship one of Columbus' 3rd round picks off for Isbister.

Well how about we change it to the Edm 1st (14th) and you send us a 2nd back?

Semenov, Isbister, 14th

4th, 2nd round pick

That way you only drop 10 places and there still should be some fine players available then.

Hmmm that actually looks ok, although we might ask for a 7th or 8th round pick back as well to even it out.

Edit: Actually that seems like a lot to move up 10 spots... hmmm. You know what? It is way too late for me to even think coherently. Maybe I'll take another stab at this tomorrow...

I actually still think the Rangers are still the most likely to be our dance partner if we make a move to drop. I still like think we could work with this proposal:

How 'bout Lampman, Liffiton, 2nd rounder, 5th rounder and #6 overall, for #4 overall 3rd rounder, and 3rd rounder in 2005?
Although I think somehow Tjutin would have to be involved if we went beyond just moving down two spots and picking up a 2nd rounder.

But the trade I proposed was just to move down two spots, and I don't think you guys would move out of the top ten.

BTW, Tyutin is an untouchable, not in my view, but to the organization.

I seriously doubt that the Wings would be able to land the 4th overall pick for a backup goaltender, a defensemen that is getting ran out of town, and a mid round pick.

Right. I think a deal would still work if we stripped your proposal down to just the CBJ moving down to #6 and picking up a 2nd from you guys - preferably your highest 2nd. Of course, this is assuming the Hawks take Barker #3.

I am not sure Lampman + Liffiton + 5th rounder = two 3rd rounders. So if we wanted to go beyond just swapping firsts and the CBJ picking up a 2nd rounder I think Tjutin would have to be involved - but if he's untouchable then that is unlikely.

Columbus gets: LaBarbera(ready to take it to the NHL), Kaspairitis(all salary paid), and 6th overall
NYR gets: 4th overall

Well we traded our 2nd, but we have a high third. That might not be a bad deal.
