Thomas Vanek (Eventually) on the Wild?

notwithstanding his lukewarm past season or his offer sheet-inflated 6.4 mil cap hit thru 2012-2013, is it far-fetched to consider Vanek playing in Minnesota? not in the immediate future but down the road?

is #26 returning to former Gopher glory too outlandish a thought?

my apologies if this has already been discussed, i didn't see it anywhere.

oh man, that'd be a huge addition but I don't think it can happen. I hope it will happen eventually but it's kinda hard to believe.

I would say it's highly unlikely.

highly unlikely. he likes it here though. married a local. still seen around town every once in a while. It's obviously a little old, but here's an interview:

And the NHL? Always Buffalo or is there a favorite team you would like to get traded to sometime?
TV: At the moment I am simply happy that my dream of playing in the NHL has come true. No matter where. Maybe later in my career I would enjoy playing in Minnesota because I have built a house there and all my friends and my girlfriend lives there. But I have no dream club.

edit: FWIW i think he would be more likely to take a "hometown discount" than Cullen or Martin.

I feel like the big offer sheet from the Oilers has really hurt his production the past few years. I would love to see him sign with the Wild as a UFA in a couple of years simply because I believe he's still capable of 35-40 goals/yr.

His ties to the area are pretty strong with living here in the off-season; also he sponsors several AAA teams in the area. My oldest son is going to tryout for his 2000 birthdate team for next summer.
