If Tambo assigns him to OKC and he refuses to report, is his contract null and void?

It has nothing to do with his talents. It has eveything to do with his advanced age, big salary and the term of 2 years, and his injury history, both recent and prior. If he was making 2.5 million for one more year, and was not injured last year, there would probably be 20 teams hot after him, and he would have been long gone.

This is a great statement by the organization.

No, players placed on waivers Saturday don't clear until Monday.

Columbus is probably one of the few teams who've had any interest in him. With Columbus making a waiver claim already, they drop to the bottom of the waiver priority list. I wonder now if Howson calls to talk trade now that he knows their chances of getting him are zero if any other team decides they're willing to put in a claim to get him for nothing.

Waiving Souray could be a pretty crafty negotiation tactic.

I can't see the Oilers having any desire to carry half his caphit for someone else. I honestly think they are hoping he get picked on the way down, but if doesn't I think they will try to tear up his contract.

This make total sense! He said he wanted out and gave the team the ok to trade. Tambo worked the phone and he couldn't be moved because of salary and a poor attitude. Katz has the money so send him down and pay him as well as gain the cap space. Katz may not even have to pay him at all as I don't think he will report.

Sweet!

This isn't true. Columbus is still 4th on the waiver priority list.

True, but they haven't said they are sending him to the minor.

Sometimes, people with too much ego needs to be humbled & floored. He brought it on to himself when he accused the organization of all those damaging stuff without any proof.

And he hasn't helped the team moving him by having a list of only 5 or 6 teams back at the trading deadline where it's easiest time to make a trade.

Got a Question guys

Anyone know if this is like the Moreau situation, where if someone claims Souray we are completely off the hook for his 5.4mill. Or because he has 2 years left he's still on our cap but at half the price, or something like that.

Thanks

Weird. You would think their would be a market for a dman with a massive contract coming off major surgery, has an injury history and a season with 13 points and being a -19. Especially in a cap era. But **** me right?

Yeah, I get that. I just didn't think he had ZERO value. I mean, he's got the NHL record for PP goals by a d-man. It's not as if he's completely useless. I know that no one would take Horcoff's ugly contract, but I honestly thought Souray had value, even at 5.4. Oh well.

Well, if that's true Seachd, I take it back.

It wasn't something I thought was actually the case, just spitballing.

Pierre Lebrun's twitter:

"Oilers have zero interest in eating half of Souray's contract via re-entry waivers. They want to lose his full contract on normal waivers."

I'm pretty sure that waiver priority doesn't change based on prior claims, that only happens in video games. It is strictly based on standings

(but the D would suck big time.. as usual)

trade Cogliano for a bag of pucks
HALL IS NOT A TOP LINE CENTER IN THE NHL... NOT THIS SEASON, AND NOT NEXT!!!!!!

Cripes, people are delusional. Perhaps Hall is why Tambellini did not offer Boogaard the money he got, Hall is going to goon it up against the top heavyweights in the league as well. Perspective people - Hall will be good, but he will not be leading this team in his rookie year.

Sheldon's wife made him a jersey - it will break his heart when he realizes 'Waiver Wire' is not an expansion team in Waiver, Wisconsin...

It's been explained a couple times already in this thread, but if he gets claimed, we don't take any cap hit.

If there isn't a second part to this plan then I don't really like this move. It would seem like more of a personal vendetta rather than a smart business move. Again I hope there is a part two to this.
