BBO: Bang on.... I really like where this is heading, the fact we don't have to take on any "bad" contracts... awesome. All we've been hearing all year is in order to trade Souray, we would have to take a bad contract back....

Don't forget what Lowe said about Pronger - he would do 1 of 2 things if given the opportunity again.
1) Make him sit
2) Blow up the team

Looks like Tambo is doing both!

Anyone else bothered by the fact that we'll be like 20M under the cap this year?

Wouldn't mind trading souray for salary if it makes us a better team (IE: Brewer with only one year left on his contract)

so?? they aren't going to be spending anywhere hear the cap this year. Cap space is not important to the Oilers this year.

Here's a question I think I know the answer to. If a player has a NTC or NMC, I'll use the fictional name Juan Forcoff, can he be put on waivers? I believe this is not an option.

Still lots of RFA's to sign. That will eat into the 20 million.

We should offer Kovalchuck a 2 year contract at maximum dollars.

Not as much as I would be if we were a 30th place cap team.

In a rebuild you want a couple of things, a poor team full of promising young players, Check. And cap space to be able to get good players when other teams are in cap hell, Check.

Tambellini is doing a wonderful job right now, it's nice to see someone with an actual direction in mind. Now watch him sign Kovalchuk for $10 million per

We won't be. We still have 8 players to sign to fill out the roster. Hall and Gagner will be in the 2.5-3 million dollar range. (Stamkos and Tavares entry contrats were over 3 million). Cogs will approach 2 I'm sure.

I disagree, if we are going to offer him a contract, it should be a long one so he is still with the team when we blossom!

The clauses restrict what they say they restrict. A NTC means he can't be TRADED, NMC means you can't do anything with him.

Let's not forget that we have some good RFAs that still need to be resigned

We're not going to be at the cap floor or close to it. If Tambo can sign our RFAs to reasonable contracts in both $$$ and length then I'll be very happy with what Tambo has done with this team in the off season

I wonder. The 'bulin signing looks like it has K-Lowe's fingerprints all over it. That said, his contract is less of a burden now and this Souray move shows what can be done to him down the road if he fails to stay healthy/out of jail.

I wonder if Pittsburgh will take a run at him, now that Hamhuis and Gonchar are off the market.

firstly i can't believe they are thinking of waiving forcoff. 2ndly i believe you can be waived with a no trade but you can't be waived if you have a no movement.

That would be stupid, Horcoff isnt a terrible player like all these people say. He wants to be here and he plays his ass off every night. Getting nothing for Horcoff would be bad. I think he ll have a bounce back season soon, maybe not 70 points but close to it

Not at $5.4 million IMO.

Holy, I would've thought they could get something back.. but I guess if you have to take on salary back, and you think the player returning isn't any better then just get rid of him? I think if they'd waited a bit there might be more of a market for Souray, but on the other hand if a team is still caught up in free agent frenzy, and hasn't got anything yet, it might be the Oilers only chance to offload him somewhere. we'll see what happens I guess.
