Is there anyone still hoping for Hartnell + Boucher for Quick and Moller?

If gagne goes anywhere, I hope it's to Nasville

we have good recent trading history with them (comparable to Toronto and Boston )

Id rather trade gagne than carter. to be fair though, i really dont want to trade either lol. I hope he goes to the kings though for sure, I couldn't root for him in boston but id root for the kings every game if he was there.

So what's the reaction going to be when we get Justin Williams and a pick for Gagne?

Probably not as bad as when Homer squanders those two picks away...

Probably about the same reaction as your prediction will garner.

Not sure if it has been posted yet but this is from Timmy P's Twitter:

Rumors out there the Flyers want cap space NOT for a goalie but ... B. Ryan? He has not re-signed in ANA; they dont need him

If you're Anaheim, what type of return do you want for Ryan. The only way they are moving Gagne for cap space is if the asking price for Ryan is JvR OR Giroux with no other significant salary going back. It would literally have to be something like JvR and Carle type deal. If they are trading Carter for Ryan, the they really don't have to move Gagne for cap reasons unless they are also going after a goalie.

They'd want a great player to come back to them. Unfortunately, all the smart GMs know that Anaheim has a gun to their head and has to deal Ryan. Also, Ryan wants a ton of money. That's not exactly going to garner a big return.

The cap space could be to offer sheet Ryan, let's face it we know Holmgren isn't afraid to overpay for someone he wants.

I think he just wants a term that doesn't take him into unrestricted free agency years.

He wants 5M+ for 65 points a season AND doesn't want to lose any UFA years.

That's just not gonna happen with Anaheim.

Doesn't Anaheim already get our 3rd rounder in 2011 since we didn't win the Cup? I thought that if we won the Cup they'd get our 3rd in 2010 and if we didn't they'd get the 3rd in 2011...Could be wrong though.

With the cap in mind... wouldn't it just be better to trade for his rights to cancel some of the hit rather then giving up yet another 1st round pick though. We'd have to trade away 5 million anyway. Plus if Anaheim matches, no trade.

Edit: Is it 1st 2nd and 3rd for a ~$5mil deal? If so no 2nd.

I am almost positive that pick only went to Anaheim if the Flyers won the Cup and it was a 2010 3rd anyway. Which we used

these are the comp figures for the 09/10 season. Not sure how much of this has changed.

$994,433 or below - No Compensation
$994,434 - $1,506,717 - 2010 3rd round pick
$1506,718 - $3,013,433 - 2010 2nd round pick
$3,013,433 - $4,520,150 - 2010 1st round pick, 2010 3rd round pick
$4,520,151 - $6,026,867 - 2010 1st round pick, 2010 2nd round pick, 2010 3rd round pick
$6,026,868 - $7,533,584 - 2010 1st round pick, 2011 1st round pick, 2010 2nd round pick, 2010 3rd

So we would have to offer 4,520,150 or less. in other words Anaheim quickly matches. It would make sense to send salary to the ducks for his rights, but who do you deal for his rights? Gagne? hes a UFA after next season. No way the Ducks do that. Hartnell? not good enough, we would have to add more.
I would be against dealing Carter straight up for him.
