We're hoping to see him center Kostitsyn and Erat, or possibly Kost and Dumont.

All depends on the day. On the days Arnott felt like playing....sure...but Arnott's desire just wasn't there every game. I'll take us getting younger and faster with Lombardi and giving Wilson more ice time.

Ahh, thanks.

I'm familiar with alot of their players, just not who plays where or with whom on a nightly basis. Regardless, Lombardi is a great addition at a fair price and term, no matter where they decide to play him.

Good luck to you guys next season.

I've been a fan of Lombardi ever since I first saw him play. I was at MSG for NYR-CGY with a buddy of mine from CGY. I wanted to see Phaneuf (he was quite impressive) but my eyes kept drifting to Lombardi- we were sitting above the goal, and we could see a huge ice surface and one player almost two steps faster than anyone else. The guy has elite speed.

Lombardi at 3.5M$ for 3 years > Plekanec at 5M$ for 5 years

Not the best natural goal scorer but helps Nashville with some more offense which is what they need. World class speed as well.

Well, his cap hit is better, but Plekanec is the better player... so why ?

I didn't expect him to get paid so much. I guess you have to overpay in free agency though. Does NSH have an internal cap?

Considering the price the Wild paid for Cullen, this was a bargain. Good deal for the Preds.

From Habs perspective I think it's too risky to have 2 centers tied up for over 5M$ over 5 years. I agree that Pleky is the better player, but looking at the 'fair' contracts being given in the free market this year I wonder what Plekanec would have fetched?

Very happy with this signing.

Preds don't have the traditional scoring lines i.e. First line, second line.

We roll 3 similar lines who each can skate, play defense, and take advantage of opportunities and mistakes to put up points.

Sullivan-Wilson-Hornqvist
Erat-Lombardi-Kostitsyn/Dumont
Ward-Legwand-Andersson/Goc/Tootoo

Or, knowing Trotz, any mishmash of those players.

Lombardi has hands of stone. This is a brutal contract, about 1 million too much. Talk about an over rated player, it's suprising the majority like this signing. Better than Armstrong at 3 million I guess.

This seems to be the going rate for this sort of guy, Stajan, Cullen and now Lombardi

Good to see Matt cash in, if his hands catch up with his feet it'll be a good contract.

Yeesh. Wouldn't have paid him that much.

If he has anything less than a 20/30 season, it's a failure, but at least we didn't just twiddle our thumbs while every free agent with a chance of helping us gets passed by.

Don't get me wrong, I would have loved to re-sign Lombardi, but I like our likely top two centers of Wolski and Turris more than Lombardi and Lang.

Losing Michalek sucks, but we'll have Morris for a full season and one of our two most promising defensive prospects (OEL and Goncharov) should make the team. I think our defense this year will be similar, or maybe even better if OEL or Goncharov can adapt to the NHL quickly.

Maybe my opinion will change after the season starts, but I'm not upset with how our roster is looking.

3.5 sounds like a very fair price for a player who just scored 53 points while winning face-offs and playing a good defensive game. Not to mention he had six points in seven playoff games.
